Toil & Trouble Boo-tiful Card Idea

Simple Halloween card idea using Stampin Up Warm Hearted and Toil & Trouble Designer Series Paper - Mary Fish StampinUp envelope

I created a wee bit of “toil” with very little “trouble” for today’s Halloween card idea.  Key to the design was this delightful ghost pattern from Stampin’ Up! Toil & Trouble Designer Series Paper.

Check out the bewitching patterns of the Toil & Trouble Designer Series Paper above.  TIP:  The Cauldron Framelits Dies (#147914, $28) coordinate and crop (with the Big Shot) many of the Toil & Trouble patterned images!

STAMPIN’ PRETTY STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL:

Create a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base with Basic Black card stock and the Stampin’ Up! Stampin’ Trimmer.  Layer and adhere with Snail Adhesive a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Whisper White card stock.

Layer and adhere with Snail Adhesive a 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 piece of Gorgeous Grape card stock on the right side as shown.

Crop a 2 7/8 x 3 1/4 ghost pattern from Toil & Trouble Designer Series Paper.  Adhere with Snail Adhesive on the right side of a 3 x 3 1/2 piece of Highland Heather card stock.  Adhere both with Snail Adhesive on the right side of the card base as shown.

2-Step Stamping!  Using the Stamparatus stamp positioning tool, stamp the first “BOO” image (Warm Hearted Photopolymer Stamp Set) in Smoky Slate on Whisper White card stock.  Stamp the second “BOO” image slightly left (a 2-step stamping overlay) using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

Crop the “BOO” sentiment using the Big Shot, Magnetic Platform (to keep the image in place) and the second smallest oval from Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  Adhere to a Basic Black scallop oval (approx. 2 3/8 wide) adhered to a Highland Heather oval (approx. 2 1/2 wide), both created with the Big Shot and the Stampin’ Up! Layering Ovals Framelits Dies.

TIP:   Crop the Whisper White and Highland Heather ovals from the Whisper White and Highland Heather layers where it will be covered by layers.  Saves on card stock!

Bring on the bling!  I adhered a couple pieces of the yummy Black 5/8″ Glittered Organdy Ribbon below the sentiment and adhered the entire sentiment to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The “eyes” have it!  For added spooky fun, I adhered two Basic Black Faceted Dots (self-adhesive) as eyes to the inside of the “O’s” in BOO!

Crop the coordinating Gorgeous Grape stripe pattern from Toil & Trouble Designer Series Paper with the Big Shot and the envelope liner die in Beautiful Layers Thinlits Dies.  Adhere to the inside of a Stampin’ Up! Whisper White Medium Envelope.

  3. The first thing I noticed about this cute card was all the layers, which lead my eye to the black faceted dots in the O’s of Boo. They look like eyes and add to the fun. Have a wonderful day, Mary.

  7. Oh Mary, what a delightful Halloween card, those little ghosts are the cutest, love the way you did your sentiment, really looks like it’s floating and adding the “pupils” to the Os, is an awesome detail. The ribbon adds just the right amount of sparkle to this adorable card.
    Thank you for sharing.
