Abstract Impressions Stamp Set Gets the Blues

Create a simple friend card using Stampin Up Abstract Impressions ideaOn today’s card, I’m sharing how to use the Abstract Impressions Photopolymer Stamp Set to create a pretty, hand stamped design.  I shared a card using the coordinating  6 x 6 Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper last Saturday here.  Both the stamp set and designer series paper (and more) will be available June 1, when the Stampin’ Up! 2018-2019 Annual Catalog begins.

This Stampin’ Up! video highlights the products and possibilities of the Garden Impressions suite.  Be sure to keep track of your favorites with this helpful wish list.

STAMPIN’ PRETTY STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL:

Create a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Night of Navy card base using the Stampin’ Trimmer.  The Stampin’ Trimmer cuts and scores.  Adhere a 4 1/4 x 4 13/16 piece of Whisper White card stock to card base as shown.

Create a 3 3/4 square using Whisper White card stock.  To create the background, start with the thickest of the rose stamps from Abstract Impressions.  Ink in Blueberry Bushel Ink (see new In Colors and Color Revamp here).  Stamp off once on a piece of scratch paper and then stamp with remaining ink on the square.  This creates the lightest of the three shades of blue.  Continue this process until the square is covered.

Layer the medium thickness rose image in Blueberry Bushel (do not stamp off) over each of the roses stamped above.  Using Night of Navy ink, stamp the fine detail image of the rose over each rose.  TIP:  There is nothing to line up.  Just layer and see the “impressionistic” magic happen.

Ink the double “leaf” stamp (it also can be a butterfly) in Night of Navy ink and randomly add to the design.  Cut the 3 3/4 square in half.

Stamp sentiment in Night of Navy ink on a 4 5/16″ x 3 3/4 Whisper White card stock as shown.  Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, adhere the rose stamped halves.  Adhere with snail to a 3 7/8 x 4 7/16 piece of Night of Navy card stock.

Use a Glue Dot to add a bow tied with Night of Navy Medium Baker’s Twine (available June 1).

  1. I love this card so much! I totally cased this card and did it in coastal cabana and Blackberry Bliss! Thanks so much for your beautiful work!

    • Hi Barb: I love stamping and paper crafting as much as I did when I first started. Coastal Cabana and Blackberry Bliss sound yummy! M

  5. Mary, this is not about the stamp set, but I have a question.
Can we sell our old style stamp sets if the colors are still current? Also, what about the old stamp set that are coming back? i.e. mint macaron. Can I see my old one?

  6. Blue is my favorite color, although I don’t seem to go to it in my cards. It is beautiful on your card, Mary, and this stamp set with no lining up is great for creating “easy” beauty. TFS. Have a wonderful day!

    • Thanks, HJ! I’m using blue (and purple) more. Frankly, I think it’s the influence of living in Tucson . . . so much color in my life!

  7. I love these blues and the fun layout of your card! The split panels are super-fun! I also adore the little twine bow. <3

    • Thanks, Brian. The twine has a charming twist to it and a medium weight. Super easy to tie!

  8. Good Morning Mary, Happy Monday! I like the layers of this card with a wider header and footer. I love the “watercolor” stamps and this impressionistic set makes me think of that. Light and airy, not solid.
    🙂

    • This girl adores the Abstract Impressions stamp set, Nancy. I especially love that there is no lining up of the layers of the rose . . . each rose ends up unique and beautiful!
