Save This Post! The Stampin’ Up! 2018 Color Revamp

I’m doing the happy dance!  Stampin’ Up! is updating their core color collections as well as adding 5 new In Colors starting June 1.  Plus, there’s a new stamp pad design that makes a great stamp pad even GREATER!  Here’s everything you’ll want to know!

THE DETAILS

There are still four color collections, each with ten colors. There is also a new color group called Basics.

In order to keep the color collections to exclusive Stampin’ Up! colors, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, and Whisper White have been moved out of the Neutrals collection. Stampin’ Up! also moved a few colors (Merry Merlot, Mossy Meadow and Night of Navy) into the Neutrals collection, making it more exciting and colorful!

Some additional colors have changed collections as well—you’ll notice this as you look through the new collections below. You can refer to the old and new color charts in the 2018-2019 catalog when it’s released on June 1.

NEW CLASSIC STAMPIN’ PADS

In addition to new colors, Stampin’ Up! redesigned their ink pads. The case is a new, more intuitive design and they improved the formula of the ink, as well!

Why the change to the case?

The case’s manufacturing mold was about to expire. Stampin’ Up! can only use a mold a limited number of times before they need to replace it, so they had to decide if they wanted to order more of the same molds or try to improve the design.   They chose to improve it!  Smart!

Stampin’ Up! wanted to align the updated case with the color revamp and improvements to the ink. In addition, they chose to time these changes with Stampin’ Up!’s rebranding and packaging updates. This way, when you invest in the new colors, you are also getting the new and improved ink pads at the same time!

What’s better about the case?

  • Less confusing to open.
  • Tighter fit between the lid and the base.
  • Stackable.
  • Improved labels and stickers.

How is the ink different?

  • Reduced ink bubbles.
  • Smoother coating of ink on the stamp.
  • Improved ink coverage.
  • You can re-ink the new ink pads with old re-inkers, you just won’t get the benefit of the defoamer that’s been added to the new re-inkers. The only exception to this is, you don’t want to use the Archival Basic Gray Re-inker on the new pads because it will ruin it.

  1. Mary, thanks so much for your info! i love organizing and your charts make it easy. i am trying the blank color coach cards for my old, long retired card stock. works great!
i am so happy to see the new blues. i am a carolina girl, so the balmy blue will come in handy for my UNC family. LOL. also, ive hoarded the retired brilliant blue which looks similar to blueberry bushel. love it for Christmas and snow cards. hope these two stay around.
oh, please ask for return of personal name stamps. thank you. gail

    • Blueberry Bushel and Balmy Blue are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. I ask for personalized stamps every few months. Maybe some day!

  2. It looks like the color caddy is also retiring. Is there a new one specifically for the new ink pads? Thanks for clear, concise, informative posts!

    • We were told at our event last month in Vegas that alternate ink storage was in the works. Designed for the new pads. No date yet. Thanks, Rebecca, for your kind feedback!

  3. I am so looking forward t9 the new colours! Would you mind sharing what Avery label you used for the “colour labels”?

    • Just in . . . The Avery 5667 labels (return address labels) are the ones that work. There are 80 labels per sheet.

    • The new stamp pads are smaller (more steamlined). They don’t fit as tightly but they work in the caddy, Cheryl.

  4. I have printed most all of the lists to keep in my reference notebook. They will be very helpful. Thanks so much for making them easy to incorporate with my current “stash”. Enjoy your day!

  5. Thank you for the update! It’s very informative, but I have a question: will the new stamp pads fit into the stamp pad storage unit sold by SU?
    Thank you!

    • Thanks, Kelly. The will fit in the stamp pad storage by Stampin’ Up! It will be looser because the new pads are more streamlined.

    • Oops! Sorry, I see you’ve already answered that in a previous post.
Thanks so much for all the information presented in a timely and organized way!

  6. Thank you so much for your visual & complete showcasing of the New Color Re-Vamp! As a fellow demo this helps me & my customers a lot. Thanks too for the Color Coach charts- they too are a big bonus. Congrats on your beautiful Million Dollar Sales Stamp & Punch! It’s a winner for sure! Thanks Mary for all you do and post.

  7. Thank you for the color combinations. I’ve never seen anything like this and printed it out. Looking forward to the new colors…. Sharing His Love, Jean B

  8. This is so exciting…the new colors and returning ones are just downright yummy…Questions: will Whisper White, Basic Black, Very Vanilla still be available to order? And the Stamp-n-Storage ink holder I ordered through your link—will new ink pads fit? Thanks, Mary!

    • Good question, Rene. Whisper White, Basic Black and Very Vanilla will be in a section all their own called Basics. Not going anywhere. Stampin’ Up! wanted the color collections to reflect unique Stampin’ Up! colors. Yes, the new pads will fit in the ink pad holder since they are smaller. They move around more but still work.

  9. Thanks for this post Mary. So many new colors, it can be overwhelming! Used my new Stamparatus yesterday for the first time. It rocked my creative world. I have watched your videos and can’t wait to CASE some of your cards.
