Bold Butterfly Thank You Card

Stampin Up Butterflies Thinlits Dies butterfly thank you card ideas - Mary Fish StampinUp

I adore the incredible detail of this bold butterfly thank you card created with the Stampin’ Up! Butterflies Thinlits Dies.  It’s perfect timing for spring!

STAMPIN’ PRETTY STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL:

Adhere a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Basic Gray card stock with Stampin’ Dimensionals to a Basic Gray standard card base (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″).  Matching layers look rich and so dapper in gray!

Crop the butterfly from Very Vanilla card stock using the largest die in the Butterflies Thinlits Dies and the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.  I highly recommend using the Precision Base Plate (roll back and forth thru the big shot 3 times) for crisp cutting of detailed dies and Big Shot Brush for nudging out the little bits!

Using a Glue Dot, adhere a ribbon bow created with Stampin’ Up! Calypso Coral 1/4″ Ombre Ribbon.  Adhere butterfly with a Glue Dot to card base.

Stamp “thank you” (Eclectic Expressions Stamp Set) in Basic Gray Ink on Calypso Coral card stock measuring 3/4″ high and cropped with a Banner Triple Punch (instant flagged end) to 3″ long.  Adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  1. WOW!! Mary, this gorgeous butterfly die image against that elegant shade of gray is the perfect combination, the butterfly really stands out, especially with the sweet little Calypso Coral bow, what a beautiful pop of color.
    Thank you for sharing.

    Maria.

  2. beautiful, Mary. the basic grey in the day light isn’t as nice as viewing your card on the blog; I thought you might have used a different color.

    • I think it’s pretty close . . . but it may depend on your monitor/phone, etc. I think the contrast is even more striking in real life. If it’s too strong, perhaps dial down to Smoky Slate layers instead of Basic Gray.

  3. Absolutely beautiful, Mary! I love this butterfly against the rich, gray backdrop. <3

    • Thanks so much, BK. I kept trying to dress it up more and ultimately preferred it pared down!

  4. Love this elegant card, Mary. You’re right about the basic gray making the butterfly pop. Have a wonderful day!

  5. That is one BOLD and BEAUTIFUL butterfly card my friend. The Ombre Ribbon just finishes it off perfectly!

    • I think the Basic Gray background really helps the butterfly “take off!” Thank you, Henrietta!
