STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:

  • True Gentleman Designer Series Paper (available Jan. 3) is the essence of masculine sophistication with a touch of whimsy.  I adore the classic plaid and houndstooth patterns as well as the pipes, mustaches and glasses!  Colors include Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Night of Navy, Tranquil Tide and Very Vanilla.

  • Measuring Up:  The assembled box created with the Lots to Love Box Framelits Dies measures approximately 3″ x 5″  5/8″.   Here’s my WOW! video from yesterday with oodles of tips!

  • The Night of Navy belly band was cut to 1 7/8″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at approximately 3 1/8″,  3 5/8″, 6 3/4″, 7 3/8″.  The small (first) section starts at the bottom and is wrapped around the box.  The final seam should meet cleanly at the bottom side.

  • Buttons are back!  The True Gentleman’s suite includes dashing faux wood buttons.  I added Linen Thread and adhered a True Gentleman button with a Glue Dot on the sentiment!
  • Cool tip!  Use a 1/2″ Circle Punch to create a notch to make opening the box easier.

  • Hmmmm?  What are those two bracket dies for in the Lots to Love Box Framelits?  Answer!  They cut notches so that you can add a gift card to any layer!

  • For an alternate Valentine’s Day gift box idea using the Lots to Love Box Framelits Dies, please see my prior post here (with more Occasions Catalog sneak peeks).

  • Confession!  On the original belly band in the video I used Emerald Envy for the banner and switched to coordinating Tranquil Tide for this post and photos.  My excuse?  I had eye surgery and was creating the box and shooting the video with a patch over one eye!  Matching the color was the least of my challenges!

LUCY UPDATE!  Many of you “met” our rescue girl, Lucy, on Thanksgiving Day when I posted “Why I Love Lucy!”  She recently finished her beginner’s obedience class (don’t miss the graduation cap) and we are so proud of her!   Learning commands has really boosted her confidence as well as enriched our relationship with her.  My family (Scott, Caroline and rescue cats Sasha and Boris) are excited to share our first Christmas with Lucy.

  1. Lucy is so lucky you found her. She looks so proud sitting there in her little cap and harness. She has a wonderful life ahead of her. You and your family are “good people” to welcome her into your hearts and home. Have a Merry Christmas!

    • Thanks so much, Ms. Jo. It has been a challenge as well as a gift to have three rescues in the house!

      Hugs, M

  2. Yay for Lucy! So glad you included her in a blog post and wishing you a very merry first Christmas with her as we celebrate our first Christmas with Benny. He graduated from his beginner class last month. Will email you a picture.

    • Loved the photo, Connie. Thank you. I wish you lived closer so the two mostly Min Pins could get together!

  3. Congratulations to Lucy, the new graduate! (and to your whole family – it takes a lot of dedication to help a pup learn and grow up!)

Thanks for the info about the stamp set and die – I couldn’t figure out the box from the catalog. Now this is on my wish list for sure.

    • Thanks, Jude. She’s taught us so much about “bravery” and continues to take on “baby steps” of new challenges. I can’t wait to celebrate her first Christmas in our home – frankly, her first home EVER!

  4. Awwwwww, MsMary your Lucy is so cute , she has a look that can make anyone smile , she makes me smile , thank you ♥️
And I love your lovely man card , I need that one too, lol
Did I say NEED , lol, I want it all ♥️♥️, thanks for sharing MsMary,
    Hugs Frenchie

  5. I still miss my little Isabel (pug). However, Lucy makes my heart sing and amazes me each day with her bravery and growing trust. Thanks, Hope!

  6. Masculine cards are always the most difficult for me-he DSP and a simple message is all one needs for a eye-catching man-card! I like you as a demonstrator, Mary; love you as a gal who as a heart for animals. Your dear little Pug made sure your heart had room for more!

  7. Merry Christmas Mary, I don’t think there is any better color combo than those! Love the box and the “man” paper, I will have to order when I return in January. I do have a question, do you think SU will ever have wood and poly stamps only instead of red rubber? and when you say clear is that poly? I guess you can tell I have not ordered for awhile. Thanks in advance! I love Lucy she is the best kind of fur baby…..

    • Hi Diane . . . Thank you for your sweetness. Stampin’ Up! carries both red rubber and photopolymer. There is still a demand for both. Where it gets confusing is the use of “clear-mount.” Clear-mount refers to red rubber that you use with clear blocks. Photopolymer stamps are actually “see through” and have the benefit of easier placement. Hope this helps. M

  8. This little box creation is ADORABLE!
CONGRATS to Lucy for her graduation from beginner’s obedience class……She looks SO PROUD! ……

    • Lucy started intermediate classes and I’ll keep you posted when she finishes, Kadie!

  9. Love the Manly cards and Truly Tailored Bundle! Congrats to Lucy! Have a peaceful and joyous Christmas.

  10. Your new pup Lucy, is a gal with attitude:) She is the cutest and I can tell she has personality galore. Congratulations on the graduation. Have a wonderful, fun filled Christmas with Lucy and your family.

P.S.. Our Yorkie’s name is Lucy and she has that same spunk and attitude as your sweet Lucy.

    • Wonderful to hear, Judy. Say “hello” and Merry Christmas with your Lucy!

  11. I love these pictures of your sweet project – all angles – and your color-switch confession – but I LOVE the picture of Lucy. She looks like she knows she made you proud. <3

  12. Congrats, Lucy. I knew you could do it. Oh, and the gentleman’s gift box is a winner, winner!

    • Hi Karren: Lots to Love Box Framelits are one of my favorite die sets in the occasions catalog! So much mileage! M

  13. Loved hearing the update on Lucy. Merry Christmas to you and your family. (I loved the video too!)
