This post has a very positive attitude but focuses on the “negative” side of Stampin’ Up! Flourish Thinlits Dies! Last week I used the pretty die cut stem to create this card (below). Today’s card uses the “negative” piece that remained from the die cut! Think of all the beautiful color combinations possible!
This week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge (PPA305) and the color combination chosen by Windy Ellard were my inspiration. Check out what the PPA design team has created with these colors and play along here.
STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:
- Yum! The Whisper White die cut layer is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals to add even more depth and texture.
- You Gotta Love Photopolymer! Photopolymer (clear, “see through”) stamps make precise placement a snap. I layered Fabulous Friend (Banners for You Photopolymer stamp set, Annual Catalog p. 79) over the sweet stitched border (Birthday Banners Photopolymer stamp set, Annual Catalog p. 15).
- Both these stamp sets coordinate with the Bunch of Banners Framelits Dies. I used the Big Shot Magnetic Platform to keep the die in place when cropping the sentiment.
- The final touches are two Pool Party coordinating dots from Subtles Enamel Shapes on either side of the sentiment.

Oh wow! Such a stunning card, Mary! Simple and elegant. I like your use of the negative image. I’m definitely gonna start saving all of those and use them, too, from now on.
Wonderful to hear, Andrea!
Such a pretty card, Mary! And you have your little enamel shapes tucked in there – so cutel
Clever, clever, Negative, never! Love your card Mary. Sweet, simple and full of meaning. TFS!
LOVE the neg image…so clean and crisp with the banner perfectly placed…you rocked the color challenge this week!
Outstanding….love love love the negative of this set. I have it on my “Wish List”
This is gorgeous! And a brilliant way to use the negative!
Mary, such a simple but stunning card! The banner is perfect as well.
I’m loving this idea! The two shades of blue you used looks good too. Thanks for sharing your cards.
Love what you did what the negative part of the die cut. Had never thought about using the negative of a die cut.. Great card, Mary.
I love all the possibilities for color combinations . . . even black and Melon Mambo would be luscious!
Positively PERFECT Mary. Great use of something that normally we pitch out.
Love this card! You got me a first with the title. I thought “negative”??? No way there is a negative with Stampin Up!
That was supposed to be a little teaser, Ramsey! Thanks for your sweet comments.
This is a beautiful card using the negative of the awesome flourish thinlit. I love today’s color combo and with the Island Indigo showing through the negative, it makes a stunning card. Have a great day!
LOVE how you showcased both the positive and negative elements to the fantastic Flourish thinlits! Will be pinning both of these cards side by side to show its versatility. Simply gorgeous!!
