This Dove of Peace card is for a friend who could use a little hand-stamped love right now. Now that the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog has begun, you finally can purchase this beautiful stamp!
My color choices were inspired by this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge (PPA266). Check out what the rest of the PPA Resident Artists have dreamed up with this combination and play along here.
STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:
- The Dove of Peace single stamp is designed with Christmas in mind. However, I separated the sentiment from the stamp using my Craft & Rubber Scissors (now retired), allowing the dove to “fly solo” for friendship, wedding, sympathy and more! I selected the Dove of Peace stamp as one of My Favorite Things from the Holiday Catalog!
- Grab your Stampin’ Up! Stampin’ Write Markers! The patterns of this elegant image are perfect for adding your colorful touches. I used the fine tip with short, controlled strokes. Leave a little white space for an illustrative feel.
- A crisp, dark image can be yours with the Stampin’ Up! Basic Black Archival Pad (also on the list of My Favorite Things from the Holiday Catalog). It dries quickly (even on Whisper White Card Stock) and is marker and watercolor friendly!
- A single Cajun Craze Candy Dot (Regals Candy Dots) adds emphasis to the “my friend” sentiment from And Many More stamp set.

This is gorgeous! It makes me think of that Mexican Talavera.
Interesting, Judy. It’s entirely possible Talavera was an influence. I have been looking at it for more home (Tucson, AZ).
Love these comments. Thank you so much! Remember short strokes with the fine tip of the markers to fill in and don’t worry about a little white space. This is a hand crafted card not “Hallmark.” You want it to look like a work of art!
Your dove is beautiful, Mary!
Mary, this is breathtakingly beautiful! I wasn’t going to buy it, but I’ve changed my mind. Leaving the white space completely changed the look and it’s just perfect. Thanks for the inspiration. I’m sure your friend will love it.
This is GORGEOUS!!
Gorgeous card, Mary! It has an artsy, southwest feel to it! 🙂
Beautiful card, Mary – your coloring is awesome!!!!
I absolutely love this stamp and you used it beautifully. This card is gorgeous.
Thanks, Robbye. It’s so fun to “color” again. I loved doing this with crayons as a kid!
One word, Mary…. Exquisite! Must pin…..
Just beautiful, Mary! Can’t wait to get my order later today now!
So beautiful. I live in Canada and just ordered it from my demo. I pinned your card because it is done up so beautifully.
I’m thrilled you pinned my card, Beth! Thanks.
Mary, the coloring on this Dove is gorgeous. Not over done, just enough. I’ve been struggling with that.
Thanks, Lynn. I’m anticipating your gold emboss on black card stock with this stamp! I always think of you with this combo!
Great way to showcase the reformulated ink, Mary! I love that you separated the sentiment from the image. Beautiful!
Sweet comments. Thank you so much.
Beautiful!
I love your card and your idea for separating the Dove from the sentiment so it can be used year round! This is now on my list to buy. Can you tell me if you mounted the sentiment on a completely different wood block? I never converted any of my wood block stamps to clear.
I just did the “surgery” a couple days ago, Kathy, to separate the dove from the sentiment. Haven’t mounted the sentiment to a wood block yet but plan to once I need it. I suppose you could mount it to the opposite side but would need to be very careful about “rocking” it because the block is large.
Oh, Mary this is absolutely beautiful! I love this stamp. I was going to try and not use it this week so I could create with other stamps. But, I must CASE this card. I love the Dove for non holiday cards. Perfect!!!!!
Thanks for these kind comments. I want to try simply heat embossing it (gold on dark card stock would be striking) or watercoloring with a plenty of bright colors just dabbed on loosely!
Hi Mary- this is simply elegant and wonderful way to use this dove for a nonholiday card. The touches of color with the white are a perfect balance.
So pretty with just touches of color! Elegant card!
Simply BEAUTIFUL Mary! (Thanks (I THINK) for helping me decide to put this stamp set on my next demo order)
Thanks, Maria. I can imagine how beautifully you would watercolor it!
Hello Mary: Your friend surely will get a lift when she or he receives this card. Beautifully colored, this is such a fabulous image.
