Stampin’ Up! Swallowtail 1 Layer Wonder!

stampinup mary fish stamping pretty swallowtail

Woo hoo!  Stampin’ Pretty is officially moved to my new WordPress blog and the features are working for most of you.  However, if you aren’t seeing the links, photos or even getting the links to work yet (possibly seeing a message from “go daddy”), here are a couple helpful tips:

  • Clear your history or your cache and try typing https://stampinpretty.com in your address bar.  Better?
  • What?  Still no Stampin’ Pretty blog?  Patience is a virtue!  Your DNS server (that’s techno talk, don’t worry about what it means) may be slow to recognize my new location.  It may take a day or two to resolve but my blog and domain ARE working for most readers.  If you continue to have a problem after a couple days, please email me to dig a little deeper for you.

STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:

  • Today’s card is a just single layer.  I simply heat embossed the Stampin’ Up! Swallowtail stamp in black and colored it with a Blender Pen and Lost Lagoon ink–in about a minute.  Like?

  • The embossing helps keep my color from “straying.”
  • Save 25%!  The “for you” sentiment is from Mother’s Love, one of the Stampin’ Up Weekly Deals.  Discount ends 4/20.  See all stamp images in my supplies list below.

  • Just a touch of bling!  I added a strip of rhinestones to the Swallowtail’s body.
  • Hover and Pin it! Here’s a photo showing key products for today’s card that you can save or pin to Pinterest. See ALL my product photos in one spot on my How to Make Simple Cards board on Pinterest.

  1. This is one of my favorite stamps and I this card is gorgeous. I’m definitely going to work on my blender pen skills after seeing this. Great job

    • What a wonderful comment, Robbye. Use a dab of ink and a light touch with the blender pen on Whisper White (Stampin’ Up!) card stock. You shouldn’t experience any bleed through of the ink

  2. Hi! I love this card so I decided to make it for Mother’s Day cards. I found the coloring bled through the card so ended up using the original card front (colored) as a piece glued over a matching color and then gluing that to the front of a card. How did you create the card without having the color bleed through? Thanks!

    • I used ink and a blender pen to color the embossed butterfly. Honestly, I didn’t have anything bleed through. I used light strokes.

  3. Had a few panic attacks last night when I couldn’t access Mary Fish for a few hours!!!!! Like some all is well on my PC but my ipad doesn’t adjust well to change I guess.
Love the new site & my loved ones were pleased to see that my mental meltdown was temporary…..

    • No need for panic attacks. LOL. I’m hearing from others who couldn’t see the photos at first and, for the most part, time has been a best friend and they can see everything (plus the links work) now. Let’s hope today is the last day for anyone still waiting for this to resolve by their internet provider! It can take up to 3 days!

  4. Thanks for the suggestion to clear history. That solved my problem, though I had to wait a while for my computer to think about this change. Checked back an hour later and all was working fine. Wish others would offer suggestions to resolve problems like this.

    • Technology can be so “touchy!” I think we are on the path to things working 100%. Brian (Integrant Services) and I are in close touch working out any little bugs. Most of the big stuff has gone well other than the things outside our control (updating my blog name/domain to the new location). I’m hearing more and more that things are updating.

  5. What a great card, Mary. I have to tell you how much I love your new wordpress driven blog. Pinning things is so much more seamless than before. And I love all the buttons. Can you tell me where to find “print the post” that you mentioned in your previous email?

  6. No photos of your work loading up. Having to go to your website to see your work. Will wait a few days and see if things clear up.

    • Hi Sandy: Your DNS server may not have updated to my new location yet. Getting the go daddy logo is an indication that’s what’s happening. Should resolve soon but could be a day or two. It’s definitely up and running for most, even updating for many who were experiencing the same as you yesterday. May take a day or two on your end (outside both our control) but please be patient and let me know if there’s still a problem after tomorrow’s post. M

  7. JUST NOW! Important update (also updated in the post). The butterflies thinlits dies are delayed again. Hoping that they will be in stock this Friday (along with the opportunity for the special offer).

  8. Just a quick note . . . most of the concerns you are sharing (thank you so much!) are due to things updating and outside my control. Everything is working for most. Comments are working as well. All these things should resolve in the next few days.

  9. The new blog looks great! I like that the comment section moved to the top of the blog post. I always start my day with Stampin Pretty blog so I’m very happy the transition went smoothly or I’d miss my daily inspiration from all your gorgeous projects. 🙂

    • That’s great to hear, Christy. I debated on the comment location and think it’s easier to find at the top!

  10. Thanks so much, Stesha. I know the DNS server still hasn’t updated for some . . . that’s outside my control. Your assurance means a lot!

  11. The new site looks clean and crisp when viewed on my phone. Glad it went without a hitch. Your card is beautiful as always. Looking forward to another 3000+ blog posts to read 🙂

  12. Mary – love this card. The butterfly is one of my favorite stamps. It works for so many occasions. The hint of blue is perfect. Thanks for the idea.

  13. Enjoyed looking at your new site; however it’s missing several spaces on the right hand sides of the blog area on my iPad. (This isn’t happening on my iPhone, thought you might need to look into that issue.) Also, typing a comment for some reason goes slowly, as if the keypad is not properly connected.

    • Hi Barb . . . actually that makes sense. It’s updated on one device and is still updating on the other. Hang tight. The virtual gods are in control! M

  14. Well, it looks like everything went smoothly with the transition Mary and I’m so happy for you.
Now, this butterfly image is gorgeous, it lends itself to be colored with just about any medium, the size is a bit intimidating but, you can use just a part of it, like you did, and it still looks amazing. Beautiful one layer card Mary, thank you for sharing.

    • Thanks, Maria. This is such an easy way to color (emboss then blender pens). The big image works best as a partial and is designed to be used in whole or in part!

  15. Welcome to WordPress Mary! I hope you find it easy to use. I love it. I also love your single layer Swallowtail card. Your water coloring is fantastic. So pretty.

    • Thanks, Kelly. Yesterday was so busy with the switch I didn’t have a card ready. Then I saw the Swallowtail stamp and decided I could make something quick! I love the results!
