WHAT I LOVE! Sending a thoughtful sympathy card can offer comfort during a difficult time. This handmade card, created using the Stampin’ Up! Umbrella Days Bundle, combines gentle encouragement with a burst of color to lift the spirits. The vibrant rainbow-colored strips symbolize hope and healing.

card tutorial: be brave handmade card
1. measure & cut
portrait card base:
- Basic White Thick cardstock – 4 1/4 x 11, scored at 5 1/2 (top)
layers:
- Basic White cardstock layers – 4 x 5 1/4 (qty 3)
- Basic White cardstock die-cut sentiment – 3/4 x 1 1/4
- Poppy Parade, Calypso Coral, Lemon Lolly, Lost Lagoon, Boho Blue, Fresh Freesia cardstock – 1/4 x 5 1/2 strips
- Basic Black cardstock – 4 x 5 1/4 (before cropping)
2. stamp:
- Use a Mini MISTI stamp tool to position and stamp the “be brave” sentiment (Umbrella Days Stamp Set) in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto the Basic White sentiment layer and “the storm with end” sentiment (Umbrella Days Stamp Set) onto a 4 x 5 1/4 layer (card interior).
- Rub the Basic Black cardstock with an Embossing Buddy (Embossing Additions Tool Kit).
- Use a Mini MISTI stamp tool to position and stamp the two images (Umbrella Days Stamp Set) in Versamark Ink onto the Basic Black layer.
- Cover the stamped images with white Basics WOW! Embossing Powder. Tap to remove the excess. Set with a Heat Tool.
3. crop:
- Adhere the colored cardstock strips as shown to a 4 x 5 1/4 Basic White layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, then crop with a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard) and the 3 x 4 1/4 (approx.) Country Corners Die.
- Use a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard) and the 3 1/2 x 5 (approx.) Country Corners Die to crop a 4 x 5 1/4 Basic White layer.
- Use a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard or Mini) to crop the sentiment with the 3/4 x 2 3/8 Country Corners Die.
- Use a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard or Mini) to crop the two images with the coordinating Umbrella Days dies.
4. assemble & adhere:
- Adhere the cropped rainbow layers (card base & die-cuts), small umbrella image, and card interior as shown with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
- Adhere the cropped Country Corners die-cuts with doubled-up Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Adhere the remaining pieces with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
5. embellish:
- Add three clear Opal Rounds to card as shown.
