SIMPLE STRIPS! Today’s card layout was inspired by a thank you card sent to me by Laura Radebaugh, a member of my Stampin’ Pretty Pals Community. I absolutely loved it and could hardly wait to make my own.
I used several design options from the pack of He’s the Man Designer Series Paper, (some front and back) to create this card. It’s easy! Cut 1″ strips, lay the design onto a piece of 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card stock. Adhere the strips in place leaving 1/8″ of space between each piece. Cut to desired size with a Paper Trimmer.
CUT YOUR CARD STOCK – DIMENSIONS:
- Early Espresso Card Stock:
- Card Base – 4 1/4 X 11, scored at 5 1/2
- Crumb Cake Card Stock:
- Layer – 5 1/4 x 4
- Basic White Card Stock:
- Stamped Sentiment – 3 1/2 x 1
- Layer – 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 (final cut to 5 x 3 3/4)
- He’s the Man Designer Series Paper:
- Strips – 5 x 1 (qty 4)
- Strips – 3 x 1 (qty 4)
- Envelope Flap – 5 3/4 x 2 1/4
PROJECT TUTORIAL:
Begin by burnishing the fold on the card base with a Bone Folder.
Adhere the Crumb Cake layer to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Adhere the 1″ strips of designer series paper to the Basic White layer as shown with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Here’s a peek at how I got started building the DSP layer. I adhered these four strips first, then just filled it in from there. TIP: Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue. It’s forgiving and allows you to get the perfect placement before it dries.
Use a Paper Trimmer to cut the layer to 5 x 3 3/4. Adhere to the card with Stampin’ Seal.
Use a Stamparatus to position and stamp the sentiment in Early Espresso Classic Ink onto the Basic White piece.
Flag the end with the Banners Pick-a-Punch. Adhere to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Tie a bow of Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine Essentials. Adhere as shown with a Mini Glue Dot.
POP OF PERSONALITY! Embellish with a Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dot.
PERFECT POLISH! Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the He’s the Man Designer Series Paper to the outside flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope. You can see my video demonstration with tips on adding designer paper to an envelope flap here.

I love this card. It’s such a great card for men. I had gotten the paper but hadn’t used it yet. Just made 3 of them! Thank you so much for all your inspiration.
I love this great masculine card, Mary. I always appreciate your tutorials. Enjoy your day!
Mary, I love this card….the He’s the Man DSP is perfect for the strip layout! You sure do have a way of making simple look fantastic! Thanks for sharing your love of crafting and all you do for us Pals:) Hope you’re warm and happy in your “new” surroundings.
I’ve made similar cards using 1/2″ or 3/4″ strips but I really like the one you made with the 1″ pieces. It gives a completely different look. TFS
