I love the classy mix of fonts.  This stamp set is on the list of My Favorite Things from the new Stampin’ Up! 2015-2016 Annual Catalog.

Let’s kick off the week with a new Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (MOJO401).  It was the inspiration for this congratulations card.

STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:

  • My design and colors (Night of Navy, Wisteria Wonder and Very Vanilla) were inspired by this summer table setting in a Ballard Designs catalog.  Did I capture the style?

  • A 1″ Square Punch was used to crop the squares with precision.  They were adhered to a 3 x 3 piece of cardstock (hidden below) and popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Oh so pretty!  I LOVE the new Stampin’ Up! Metal Rimmed Pearls.  This one was the perfect touch for the center of the butterfly.

  • The scallop edge was created using the large scallop square from the Squares Collection Framelits Dies.  In order for it to be long enough, it’s two separate pieces tucked under the 3 x 3 layer.

  1. Welcome, Carl, to the stamping world and thank you for such a kind comment. I love using punches to create patterns and backgrounds!

  2. Hi Mary I am new to card making, my wife is a SU demo and I’m giving it a go. I really like your centre square with all the little squares it is very effective. I like cards that look simple but are really not that simple. So yours hits my mark perfectly thanks for the great inspiration.

    • We also have some scallops on the Rotary Trimmer/Blades, Lynn. This just jumped out at me (the Squares Collection) and worked! Thanks!

  3. Wow! Just love how you brought that tablecloth inspiration to life. Gorgeous card, Mary!

  4. I think you nailed the colors Mary. It’s a lovely card, I love the pearl embellishment and the scallops. Catalogs are a great place to get inspiration.

  5. I love having fashion or home decor as a guide to get a card started. Thanks, Maria. I want to try and do it more often!

  6. I love it when you get inspiration from those fabulous magazines, this picture in particular is just amazing, love that awesome summer table setting.
Your card is so bright, love how you placed those perfectly punched squares.
Thank you for reminding us that we can get inspiration if we just look around us.

  7. Thanks, EmbeeKay! I realized that my scallop border punch retired and I wanted that look . . . the Squares Dies were the solution!

  8. Super cool touch with the scalloped edge, Mary. Thanks for so many inspiring ideas!

  9. OOOH vary pretty , love how you got inspired MsMary, love it all !!!!
    Tfs,
    Hugs Frenchie

  10. It’s genius to use the large square from the Squares Framelits to make those scallops! Great take away from this lovely card!

    • Another option for Scallops would be the Rotary Cutter . . . there are a couple fun blades!

  11. Great card Mary! I love the idea of using the scallop square Framelit for that adorable edging.

  12. Great card my friend! Makes me want to grab my picnic basket and spread out a blanket.

  13. Thanks Johanna. These creations are from Stampin’ Up! but should be fun to recreate!

  14. Love this card. I like clean and simple. Good colors, striking design. Thanks for sharing.
