A Wee Bit of Punch Art–St. Patrick’s Day Idea!

Top of the morning to you!  Today’s leprechaun card draws it’s inspiration from this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge (PPA242).  See what the rest of the PPA Resident Artists have created with these colors and play along HERE.

PPA242

STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:

  • The top of the derby hat was shaped with the Stampin’ Up! Extra Large Oval Punch.
  • The Derby hat base was created using the Stampin’ Up! Word Window Punch. I made it longer by flipping the punch over and fishing in a skinny piece of Garden Green card stock, cropping each end to create the length I wanted.

  • The buckle and band on the hat were created with the Stampin’ Trimmer and my Paper Snips.
  • Lucky You!  The green mustache (Stampin’ Up! Mustache Framelits Die) makes me do the jig!  Two Basic Black Candy Dots (Neutrals Candy Dots) add a dapper touch to the sentiment.

  • The final touch was a Garden Green polka dot pattern (Regals Backgrounds Designer Series Paper Stack) cropped with the Stampin’ Up! Bow Builder Punch.  Watch  my 1 Minute to WOW! video on using the Bow Builder Punch HERE.

  1. Hi Mary, when I first saw the cards on this page (St. Patrick’s Day) I thought I saw a leprechaun card in amongst the bow ties and moustaches, now that I want to have another look , I couldn’t find it! Please help, also, is there a tutorial for it please? Cheers and thankyou, Marilyn in the UK.

  2. Cuties St Patty card I have seen this year. Absolutely love the hat, thanks for sharing the details. I can’t wait to give this card a try.
    Thanks, Joanie

  3. Love the card…Did you free cut the squares on the hat band….Working on making the card, but the square punches I have or too big

  4. I’ve always struggled with St. Patrick’s day card designs. This one is really cute. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Oh, Patti, the Mustache Framelits are great for everything from santa cards to masculine!

  6. Very clever! Never thought I would want the mustache framelit, but I’m wanting it now! Thanks, Mary

  7. Love your derby hat punch art… so creative! The trio of images with the sentiment on the mustache is clean and crisp. A great St. Patrick’s day card that I am pinning for a CASE… thanks, Mary… 🙂

  8. There’s a “Happy St. Patricks Day” sentiment in Teeny Tiny Treats. However, I liked the boldness of “lucky you!” The key if there isn’t a specific sentiment for St. Patty’s is to play with green shamrocks or even a green mustache! Even “celebrate” can work!

  9. Wow, thanks Mary! I was bummed because SU hasn’t come out with any St. Patrick’s Day stamp set or even a single one this year. I think the last set was Pinch Proof! I know all I needed to do was think outside the box and you did it for me. This is the cutest card ever and St. Patrick’s Day is a very special day for me being Irish and all! Once again, you are awesome and thank you so much for sharing your creativity!

  10. Such a fun & clever card! Love the clean lines and fun elements of your card.

  11. Thanks so much for these fabulous comments! Its amazing what can happen when you play with punches and framelits!

  12. Your creativity just never ceases to amaze me! I love the hat, it’s darling! The mustache is perfectly snazzed up
and that adorable BOW in green!! I love everything about it. Just makes me smile and elegant, too!

  13. You’re so clever! I didn’t think I had any St. Patrick’s Day related product. Thanks for thinking outside the box. A beautiful card.

  14. Oh Mary, I just love this card, how amazingly creative!!! I love punch art, it’s amazing what can be done with different punches.
    Thank you for the inspiration.

  15. Mary, I love it. What a fun card. Thanks for all the details, including your video on the bow builder punch.
