There’s often little time to create a sympathy card.   However, the power of loving words and a prompt handmade card can mean so much.  Today’s card is simple but delivers a caring message (Stampin’ Up! Love & Sympathy) both inside and out.

    • Thank you so much for asking. Unfortunately, the stamp set is retired. However, there are pretty flower/stem stamps still available that would function the same way. Consider You’ve Got This or Touches of Texture stamp sets as alternatives.

  1. Mary this is such a beautiful card. i love the colors, the sentiment is so beautiful.. Thanks Mary. YOU are the best.

  2. Mary,
I love that you added the link to see “100’s of cards you’ve made!” I looked at tons and didn’t even get to the end. Yeah – I can go back tomorrow!

  3. OMG Mary,
What a beautiful, elegant, simple card. Just a pure classic! Thanks for sharing.

  4. Hi Mary,
What is your favourite in colour?? What do you think is the got to have colour in terms of this spool promotion??
    I love your taste!!
    Melissa

  5. Mary the Magician! You never cease to amaze me at your selection of colors and placement. You inspire me every day!

  6. Hi Tricia . . . Thank you for your kind words. I’m sorry to hear about your loss. I don’t have the card anymore (it went to the father of dear friends of ours who lost their mom/his wife). I’m going to estimate for you just by looking at it. The card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. The Crumb Cake Layer is approx. 3 1/4 x 4 1/2. Each layer on top of it gets 1/4″ inch smaller (both directions) so the top layer for the sentiment should be approx. 2 3/4 x 4. Hugs, Mary

  7. I love this card and just purchased this stamp set because we lost my husband just lost his dear Aunt and Godmother. Would you be willing to share the dimensions of each layer you used? I’d appreciate it and I know my in-laws family would also 🙂

  8. What a perfect, card, Mary! You said it – classy. But also subtle and serene. Just the right tone for an elegant sympathy card. Wonderful sentiment too. This is one of my favorite sets b/c of the beautiful art. Thanks for the inpsiration. Have a great weekend!

  9. Sahara Sand has been my least-used colors of all the neutrals, but it really does look wonderful with Very Vanilla. It gives the perfect mood for a sympathy card and I can see it for masculine themes, wedding cards, or any occasion for which the sender wants to convey calm, quiet seriousness.

  10. Simple elegance. Love this card! Perfect for saying what you need to say, without trying too much. Thanks!

  11. I usually make 2-3 sympathy cards at a time so I always have 1 on hand when needed. A lot of time is saved thus way ’cause I’m not trying to make all the elements come together & the supplies are already out.

  12. Beautiful card – it means so much more when receiving a hand-crafted card. I just wish I knew more people who craft as I very rarely get one myself! Boo-hoo.

  13. So beautiful. I may have to make some these. This would even make an elegant Happy Birthday or Thinking of You. Thanks for sharing!

  14. Mary, this is a beautiful card. Clean, crisp and very elegant. I love the colors and the metallic brads give it just enough of that little extra touch. Thanks for always inspiring me! 🙂

  15. Mary, your blog was one of the first I started following when I became a hobby demo in May. This card is a perfect example of why I check your website every day! Love the simplicity and colors, your cards always have a grace and elegance to them. Gotta add this stamp set to my wish list. Thanks for all your postings and insights.

  16. Love that card Ms Mary, so pretty, the colors are BEAUITIFUL together !!
    Tfs !!
    Hugs F.

  17. Love this card! I forget about using my flower stamps like this and it’s so elegant.

  18. Elegantly done! The color combination is perfect; I like the way the panels are a little smaller so you can run the ribbon underneath the way you did. Simply wonderful (as usual)!

  19. This is a “turn to” set when you need a sympathy card – and using the midnight muse ink and ribbon…..makes this a super lovely card. Love what you created on this one Mary!

  20. Just found your site through Google and absolutely LOVE this card. Can’t wait to see more.

  21. This is a beautiful sympathy card. The design is clean and simple and the colors are perfect.

  22. Love the simplicity of this card. It will be a great one to mass produce. Thanks for always sharing your ideas.

  23. You are right, Mary. When I’m are faced with the sad news of someone’s passing, I know that a hand made card is more meaningful than a store bought one but then you want the card to be subtle and without to much embellishments and this card and this stamp set are perfect for that.
    Thank you.
    Maria.
