Today’s card is clean, simple and was inspired by a card I received in a swap from Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Ronda Wade. Her stunning card is featured with mine below.
STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:
- I absolutely love the coverage I get with the new Stampin’ Up! firm foam ink pads. However, when stamping black ink on Stampin’ Up! Whisper White or Very Vanilla card stock (which have a “slicker” finish to them than the other colors), I recommend Jet Black Stazon vs. the Basic Black firm foam ink pad. Jet Black Stazon dries significantly faster and there’s less chance of smearing. Note: I don’t have a drying issue with other Stampin’ Up! card stock colors when using the Basic Black Ink. Stampin’ Up! IS working on a solution regarding the Basic Black Ink.
- For background stamps like Pleasant Poppies, I flip the rubber side up and ink with the ink pad facing down. This way I can see that i’m getting good coverage as I move the ink around.
- Vellum offers a very soft, see through finish for the sentiment. Glue dots, which hold the vellum in place, are hidden behind the ribbon.
- A touch of Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon and card stock offer a pretty contrast to the black and white!
NO DATE YET on when the new Stampin’ Up! Trimmer will be available. Let’s hope it’s soon!

Thanks for the tips on the Basic Black ink. Mine will be here Wednesday! As will my Pleasant Poppies stamp, so thanks for another great idea :o)
Muy bella te felicito.
Black and white cards are stunning
Love it! Quick, simple, and reminds me to use my vellum, which I forget I have! Thanks!
You didn’t have to admit to the coloring part – we think the card is pretty cool on it’s own. I didn’t realize about the velum and just thought it was a camera light illusion – it makes the sentiment so soft – I really like it! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration. I think I gotta have this stamp!
Thanks for this quick and simple card. Appreciate your notation about the new Basic Black Ink.
Lovely card, I didn’t realize you had used vellum on the bottom portion of the card, I thought you stamp over the beautiful poppy stems, I like this idea too. I think this is a gorgeous stamp and it looks great as is, doesn’t have to be colored.
actually, nancy, i tried to color the poppies in red (for my first idea) and just can’t seem to master my coloring skills . . . LOL. the “stand alone” line image it IS! hugs, m
Hello Mary: What a beautiful and elegant card!! This stamp set is simply gorgeous. The Vellum paper is perfect for the sentiment. Thank you for sharing.
Maria.
I think you just convinced me to buy the pleasant poppies stamp. Beautiful card!
Thanks for the “heads up,” Mary, on the Black ink pad. I confess I haven’t dived into any of the new firm foam pads since I have an entire collection of the old ones, but there are some colors I will be trying. I need to go through all of the pads and chuck the ones that have been re-inked into oblivion.
Simply Gorgeous and elegant. I need to order this stamp ASAP!!
Mary, your creations are so beautiful! TFS
GORGEOUS card Mary! Thanks for the tip on using StatzOn.
Beautiful, thanks for the hints.
