3 tips for using hybrid embossing folders:
- Use the Right Sandwich Combination: Hybrid embossing folders are thicker than standard folders, so check your die-cutting machine’s recommended plate “sandwich” for 3D embossing folders. Typically, using fewer plates or a specialized adapter will give the best pressure for deep impressions without damaging your machine.
- Lightly Mist Your Paper: For a crisper impression, lightly spritz your cardstock with water before embossing. This softens the fibers, allowing the paper to mold more deeply without cracking or tearing.
- Align for Precise Cutting and Embossing: Hybrid folders are designed to emboss and cut simultaneously. Align your die precisely within the folder before running it through your machine to get clean cuts and embossed details in one pass. Using a bit of low-tack tape can help keep everything in place.
