Stampin’ Up! Envelopes Dies Tutorial!

My Favorite Things -Ornamental Envelopes from Stampin' Up!Today’s post takes an in-depth look at the Stampin’ Up! Envelope Dies, which are part of the Ornamental Envelopes Bundle, from the 2020 Mini Holiday Catalog.

I’ve had a few questions from customers on the various dies that are part of the Envelope Dies set.  So here’s my take on how each die can step-up an envelope to the next level of pretty.

A. B. & C: These dies are made to pretty up the envelope flaps.

D:  These dies are made to pretty up the insides of the envelopes.

Others: These dies are made to crop out the images from the Ornamental Envelopes Stamp Set.

A. Use this die on a Medium Envelope flap to add the branch-like design.  Step-it-up by adding a coordinating liner (shown in D. below) of double-sided Designer Series Paper which can be seen through the die-cut.

B. These two dies also add a decorative border to the envelope flaps, just a little more subtle.  The envelopes shown here are Medium (left) and Notecard (right).  The liners (shown in D. below) can also be used to add a peek of Designer Series Paper.

C. This die adds a bit of beauty to the edge of four different sized envelope flaps!  The markers on the die itself help you line up the edge of each flap so that it cuts in just the right spot.

You can also use it to scallop the edge of Designer Series Paper that can be adhered to the flap for the perfect coordination of your creation.

Here are the sizes of Designer Series Paper needed for each envelope size, before you scallop the edge.

  • 3×3 Envelope – 1 3/4 x 3 1/8
  • Notecard Envelope – 2 1/8 x 5 1/8
  • Medium Envelope – 2 1/2 x 5 3/4
  • Large Memories & More Envelope – 2 1/2 x 6 1/2

D. These dies create a beautiful scalloped edge on a piece of Designer Series Paper that slips inside the envelope for a beautiful coordinating liner.

Here are the sizes of Designer Series Paper needed for each envelope size, before you scallop the edge.

  • 3×3 Envelope – 2 1/2 x 4 1/4
  • Notecard Envelope – 4 3/4 x 4 7/8
  • Medium Envelope – 5 1/4 x 6
  • Large Memories & More Envelope – 5 7/8 x 6

  1. Thanks for the tutorial, Mary. My dies came bent so I have been slow to use them. Now I am motivated to try them hoping that sending them thru the cut & emboss machine (on its way in my most recent order) will flatten them out

  2. I have never felt a need to have envelope dies after the insert dies of several years ago (which I still have and use regularly), but the edge dies are just too precious to pass up. Thanks for the excellent tutorial. On my list for next month for sure!

  3. Mary, thank you so much for this great tutorial. I needed help in making my envelopes look prettier and you provided it. Enjoy your day!

  4. Thanks for the tutorial Mary. I added these to my next order even before this post. Now I am more excited than ever to own them and use them!

  5. Thanks for sharing this! I just got this bundle so I’ll know what to do with all the dies now!

  6. Hi from Colmar, France . I really enjoy your explanations (envelope
dies). It’s very useful for a lot of your readers. Now I’ll know how to use
those dies and I’ll order them. I like blog hops a lot and suggest this:
one theme and ONE stamp set, the same for all members (maybe
    it’s not a new idea…)
I’m looking forward to seeing your next creations)

  11. Thank you ,Mary ! I have been on the fence about these dies because I have the interior dies from a few years ago. You described them all so well that now I know I want these ! SMILE !!
