A Stampin’ Blends Day with Santa’s Sleigh

Learn how to create this simple Christmas card using Stampin' Up! Santa's Sleigh & Stampin' Blends - Mary Fish StampinUp

Oh, what a joy it was to use the new Stampin’ Up! Stampin’ Blends Markers to color my reindeer (and bow) from Santa’s Sleigh Photopolymer Stamp Set.  Honestly, I have always been challenged (even intimidated) by coloring.  However, the rich, blendable color of the “blends” gives me “coloring confidence!”

I love hearing from you!  Please leave me your questions or comments about the project for today.

STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:

  • The light and dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends were used for the reindeer.  I used the dark shade to add depth close to the border (but not all the way to the border) and used the light shade to blend (tiny circles) the dark shade toward the center and finish the balance of the reindeer.  You can always go back and add a little more depth.

  • Dashing!  I did the same on a small scale with Cherry Cobbler and the bow.  It’s popped up on a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.  Love those little 3-D guys!
  • The dies have it!  I used oodles of dies and the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine to create different elements.

  • Dies include:  Santa’s Sleigh Thinlits Dies (coordinates with the Santa’s Sleigh Stamp Set for the reindeer and bow), Pretty Pines (for the mix of holiday greens), Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies (Whisper White stitched oval), Layering Ovals Framelits Dies (scalloped Cherry Cobbler layer) and Cupcake Cutouts (for the popped up sentiment banner).
  • Linen Thread and Cherry Cobbler dots (Regals Enamel Shapes) add the perfect polish.

  • I added a Garden Green houndstooth pattern from Be Merry Designer Series Paper to the Whisper White Medium Envelope flap.  Simply adhere paper to the flap and snip the excess with Paper Snips.

  1. Dear Mary, What a beautiful card. The die cuts and the greenery are so pretty. Your coloring and blending with the new markers is so pretty. You are amazing. I have saved this card, I want to C.A.S.E. This card if you do not mind. I love it. Hugs, Ellen Hinds

    • I would be thrilled to have you CASE (copy and share w/everyone) this card, Ellen. Thank you for your sweetness.

    • and thank YOU, Pat, for leaving a comment. i treasure every comment i receive!

    • I’m not sure, Karren, if I have risen to the level of “skilled blending.” However, I’m light years ahead of my watercoloring skills and having more fun with the Stampin’ Blends! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Really pretty card, Mary! Love the greenery you’ve added to the back of your image.

  3. You are a NATURAL with these Stampin’ Blends in hand Mary. LOVE what you created.

    • I practiced few times and am learning my “best way.” However, I enjoy the process more than watercoloring and adore the results, Kadie.

    • The Stampin’ Blends make me feel “empowered” to color, Stesha. Minimal practice. Tons of “look!”

  4. This is a wonderful holiday card, Mary! Love your layers and texture from the die cuts! Pinned and ready to CASE! Have a great weekend!
