This anniversary card offers a simple mix of pretty embellishments and a crisp Basic Black, Whisper White and Real Red color palette.
The sentiment is from Timeless Love stamp set. I adore the sophisticated font!
The foundation of today’s card is this week’s Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge (PPA265). Discover what the rest of the PPA Resident Artists have dreamed up with using this sketch and play along here!
STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:
- Love the sheen of the background paper (more noticeable in the top photo)! It’s from Winter Wonderland Specialty Designer Series Paper, available Sept. 1.
- Love these gold, Basic Black and Whisper White patterns from Winter Wonderland Specialty Designer Series Paper. Get a sneak peek of all the pretty patterns of designer series paper in the Holiday Catalog here.
- It’s a sweetheart of a punch. I used the Stampin’ Up! Sweetheart Punch to crop the curvy Real Red Heart. It’s 25% off through Aug. 31 as part of the Stampin’ Up! Weekly Deals.
- The Stampin’ Up! Fine-Tip Glue Pen is your best friend (along with a good tweezer) to control adhesive on small embellishments. I created a video demonstration to with tips on using the glue pen here. See all my Stampin’ Pretty videos (over 200).

Hi, Mary!
I noticed awhile ago that you had moved back(?) to Wisconsin! Oh my, the Winter weather must have been a shock for you after a long time in Tucson! Anyway, I just hope you’re doing well and are loving your new home! It looks as if you haven’t slowed down one bit! Good luck in your new home!
Mary, the above comment was meant for your post “Simple Saturday Lighthearted Leaves” where you actually did tone on tone layering. lol Not sure how I posted the above comment in the wrong comment box.
I love your comment just the same. Thank you and no worries!
Mary, I just love your patented tone on tone layering. 🙂 I’ve noticed that it is a common theme in your cards and I love the effect – so much so that I’ve CASEd it a few times myself! Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Patty: Good question. Much comes down to personal preference. Both Stazon and the new Basic Black Archival Pad are permanent inks for watercoloring images. Memento Tuxedo Black works with alcohol based markers. All provide good coverage.
I love the card and the color combination. I can’t wait to order some of that DSP!
Quick question – with so many choices for black ink (Stazon, Memento and now the new Archival black), I’m confused as to the difference between them and for what projects they work best on. Can you please help clarify? Thanks so much!
Love this card, my favorite color combination – black, white and red.
So elegant.
One of my favorite color combos….black and white with a pop of red…. This is so easily caseable!! Love those kind of cards!!!
You can’t go wrong with black and white and red, such an elegant combination.
I love those colors, too, Judy. The new Stampin’ Up! Black Archival Ink is so rich and black. That makes it even more crisp!
Ooooooo,MsMary that’s so well put together, love it all !! Perfect touch with the trim,
Yep, love it !! Tfs,
Hugs Frenchie,
Hot your message on personal stamps , thank u 😀
Thanks for bringing on a smile, day after day, Frenchie!
Just beautiful, Mary!!
I appreciate your comments so much!
I’m IN LOVE! Best thing about this card (besides the crisp black and white color combination) is the scattering of sequins you added to the heart. PERFECT touch and arranged like they just fell onto the paper.
I’m “busted,” Kadie. Those sequins were tossed on the heart and I loved that they fell in a cluster. That’s how I tried to keep them when adhering. Thanks!
Mary – I love your card. Looks like I’m going to have to buy the sweetheart punch. (I keep thinking I have enough hearts! LOL) Every time I try to do the string behind and element I never like mine, but I always like it when I see others. I love how you used the silver cord. Very nice.
Terri . . . try not to overthink using the cord or thread behind an element. I just add a couple glue dots to the back and let it do it’s thing! Thanks so much!
Mary – I LOVE this card! Wonderful colors and use of embellishments. I will be CASE’ing :))
A CASE is an honor. Thanks, Karin.
Mary, this is stunningly gorgeous!!!!! and so very elegant. The detail of the metallic sequences and the loops you made with the silver cording are just lovely.
Thanks so much, Maria. Your comments are so thoughtful and kind!
This is gorgeous. I love the way you splattered the sequins within the heart. Great idea which I will borrow from you with your blessing. 🙂
You have my “blessing,” Marlene. What an honor!
