It’s Day 3 of my “Top 10 Ways to Get your Stampin’ Mojo Going!” Today’s tip is to create cards with a purpose. Having a recipient in mind turns on the “lightbulb” for contemplating colors, style, sentiment and pattern. My cards rarely end up in a box or stash since I find reasons to send out at least 4 or 5 a week.
This interactive 4 1/4″ square card (I cropped the bottom of the die cut to make it square) is perfect for my 9 year old grand nephew, Devlin. Learn more about the Circle Card Thinlits Die.
Devlin became my “muse.” The stamp and patterns are fun, plenty masculine (without being too “babyish” or too “mature”) and color combination universal. I’m confident a 9 year old will appreciate the WOW! factor when the circle flips!
- The snappy lightbulb stamp is from Stampin’ Up! Crazy, Mixed Up Love (see images below). I heat embossed it in white for a shiny “glass” finish.
- To layer the chevron and embossed patterns, I cut them with the same
Circle Card Thinlits Die I used for the card but took a little off each
side to expose a rim of Crumb Cake. - For easy removal, I used a small piece of wax paper between the “XOXO” die and my Real Red card stock. Works like a charm! I sliced skinny pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals for a 3-D effect.
- SNEAK PEEK! You’re witnessing the results of a brand new Stampin’ Up! product. The Envelope Punch Board is light, portable and creates 66 sizes of envelopes with ease. It will be available for customer purchase on September 1 (Item #133774, $19.95).

Too funny, Karren. However, I do my bit to keep the post office busy!
The photography of your cards is outstanding! I love seeing all of the details. Thank you!
Definitely a light bulb moment to emboss the light bulb so it is shiny! Love it! This card is fantastic! I would love to receive a card like this. This definitely has your “WOW” factor to it! That envelope is the bomb!
I like these inspirational posts. Sometimes it does take a little push to get going. And, on behalf of the postal service, thanks for sending out so many cards. You might be keeping them in business almost single-handedly. Just image, followers of Mary, if we all did that. We could get something besides ads and catalogs in our mailboxes for a change!
omg what a nice card and Envi , love those three colors together !!
