Scaredy Cat and Cello Bag Sneak Peek

Stampin up scaredy cat rubber stamp halloween cellophane treat bag
We are rounding the corner to the Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini Catalog (starts Sept. 1) and it's time to start thinking about Halloween fun and treats.  NEW PRODUCT ALERT!  One of the hot new products in the Holiday Mini Catalog are the 1" x 8" Cellophane Bags (#124134) that house the Reese's Pieces above.  Think gumballs, pixie sticks, licorice bits . . . the presentation is divine.

Share your own ideas for the contents of these bags.  Leave me a comment at the end of this post!

The flagged end was created using a Stampin' Up! 1 1/4" Square Punch (119865).  Watch my previous video tutorial to learn this trick.  A  skinny strip of coordinating card stock gives each button a faux stitched look.

These sassy little spiders are from the Stampin' Up! Scaredy Cat stamp set (available now–images at the end of this post).  They were heat embossed on both the card and envelope.  The Scaredy Cat stamp images coordinate with Frightful Sight Designer Series Paper.  Sweet!

WARNING:  NEVER create treat packages when you are hungry.  I'm a pushover for anything with peanut butter and chocolate. My mantra:  2 for me, 1 for the treat bag . . . Repeat . . .

Sticky Strip keeps the 2" x 2" topper cards securely attached to the cellophane bags.  Jewels Basic Rhinestones give the spider on the treat topper stylish dimension.  I used a Black Sharpie to turn them black in a snap.  Are you a visual learner?  Here's a video on Coloring Rhinestones.

The little ghost was heat embossed on Whisper White card stock, snipped out and popped up on a Stampin' Dimensional.  My card base dimension is 5 5/8" x 3 1/2."  With the overlap from the banner, it fits neatly in a Stampin' Up! Small Open End Envelope (107286).

STAMPIN' UP! DESIGNER SERIES PAPER PROMOTION!  The Frightful Sight Designer Series Paper (used on today's projects) is charming with crisp polka dot, stripe and "spooky" patterns.  It's one of many choices for the BUY 3, GET 1 FREE  Designer Series Paper Promotion.   Ends Aug. 31.

UPDATE ON MY CLEAR-MOUNT CLING FOAM TUTORIAL:   Many of you enjoyed learning how easy it is to convert wood-mount stamps to clear-mount.  Thanks for your feedback.  For inquiring minds, the brand name of the Hot Knife is Walnut Hollow.  To watch the original video, click here.

  1. Hi, Mary, I love all the work that you do! Thanks for sharing it! I am trying to fill the 1 x 8 bags with Reese’s Pieces for my hostess club next week. Do you have any tips for getting the pieces into the bags. Help!! I may need to go back to the store to buy more “pieces” if I don’t get them into the bags and sealed soon! Thanks for all you do!

  2. Dear Mary, I love this card! Is the plastic in the bags food grade (safe for unwrapped food?) Just wondering?.

  3. Well I searched high and low at the store and found the “eyeball” shaped candies that are wrapped in foil. I found carmal and also a peanut butter flavored variety. I bought 6 bags just in case! The grocery clerk and the sacker just sort of looked at me skeptical. Hopefully, they will fit but if not, I can use a regular square bag or something with a topper. Your spides are a bit too realistic for me! If I had to make some for grade school kids – pencils from the dollar store for Halloween would be great. I do have a friend who loves the “peeps” candy and I found some tiny little pumpkin shaped orange candy made out of the “peeps” stuff. I hope they fit in the tube shaped bag too. But, if not, go to plan B with a normal bag! Then for Christmas – wouldn’t peppermints look great in there with a cute topper? Bell shaped foil chocolates or everyones favorite kiss. Then, of course you would need the new lips stamp. Then Easter with little eggs in them. Now, how am I to go to bed with all these ideas floating in my head?

  4. Mary, your spider with rhinestones looks so real, I almost smashed my laptop screen. 😉 Can’t wait to make some of these treats for my grandson’s class. I always enjoy your video tutorials. Thanks!

  5. What a fun card & treat combo! Love the card with the spiders, buttons & the little ghost is just too cute. The little cellophane bags would be perfect for candies for about any holiday. I know my husband would suggest that anyone would love to have skittles, since they are his very favorite. Of course he’d eat all the lemon. They remind me of sixlets. Used to & still do enjoy those once in awhile.

  6. Where’s my fly swatter? Yikes those spiders are creepy!
Love the little ghost! Oh he’s the cutest size! 🙂
I plan to immediately fill mine with m&m’s I’m hoping to find them in single colors like purple, and orange. Later this year I’ll put in cinnamon hearts. Awesome little card!

  7. How about buttons or brads for your stamping friends. We just started a stamping club and when you attend a party each person in the club brings a stamped gift for the hostess, I believe I just found mine.

  9. Mary – love your ideas! I have to say I made some cards this past weekend for a swap and ended up coloring my rhinestones with a StazOn pad. I just rubbed the pad over the stones and they worked well. I’ll have to try the Sharpies for some color though!

  10. You are brainstorming today, Lynne. Thanks for sharing. Even rice could be cute for a wedding or even a chef? Sunflower seeds, flower seeds. I just checked and a standard pencil (teacher, school), Stampin’ Up! marker, pen or sharpie would fit. Keep ’em coming! Hugs, M
