If you are a clear-mount rubber stamp fan, there are two very cool additions to the Stampin' Up! 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog that may interest you. Today's video tutorial provides a demonstration and tips on the Clear-Mount Perfectly Placed Guides (#121785) and the Clear Block Cleaning Cloth (121779). I made ten of these 3 x 3 note cards without a "blooper" sentiment in the bunch!
STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:
- Keep your clear blocks "cling-friendly" by using Dawn Dish Soap once a month (more often if they have been used a lot). Removing residue (including Stampin' Mist) is essential in order for clear-mount stamps to adhere properly to the blocks.
- Lining up stamps relies on good image placement. See my Clear Block Quick Tips Video
- The sweet scalloped note cards were created using the Bigz Scallop Squares Duo Die. Here's a previous video demonstration to show you the simple steps. Bonus . . . they fit in the Stampin' Up! 3/1/8" x 3 1/8" Mini Square Envelopes (107309)
- Floral Fillers stamp set offers a lovely pattern that coordinates with Stampin' Up! punches. Both the sentiment and cropped butterfly are from the set. See all Floral Filler stamp images below.

Thanks very much for sharing your expertise on video – I have watched a few of your videos now and always find them helpful. It was marvelous for me to meet you at Convention with my upline _ Angela McKay. You made it so easy to follow on your video and now will order some of those guides. Thanks!
Wonderful, thank you so much for sharing, Mary.
Such a darling card, Mary! Thanks so much for showcasing those clear-mount guides. I was on the fence about them, and now I think I need them! 😉
thank you!! I LOVE your blog. I check it daily (and have for a looong time.) thank you for everything you share!
Are you able to reuse the clear grid guides or are
they permanent to the clear block you mount them on?
Thanks for all the wonderful feedback! The stamp set is Floral Fillers 🙂 Hugs, Mary
Thanks for the great tips, Mary; I hadn’t even noticed this grid. Your videos are such a pleasure and your designs are fabulous!

Hi Mary – love watching your videos. You have so many great tips. i do have a qustion – what stamp set is the sentiment from – it is amazing!
Thanks, Mary, for the tips.
Thanks, Mary. I wasn’t even sure what these were!
What a pretty little card. It really shows how pretty that stamp set is when used. Sometimes the catalogs just don’t do them enough justice. You need to actually see them used. Thank you for another great video! You always give us such wonderful tips. I just found the clear mount guides & was wondering how they worked. And you gave me my answer. They look pretty slick, so will add them to my ever growing shopping list. Just love your site & always enjoy seeing your daily project & tips of the day.

Terrific tutorial, Mary! Thanks for sharing this great info on using the clear stamps. I’ve had so much trouble getting my SU clear stamps to stick to the block. Now I know what to do!
Thanks for the tutorial Mary. I’m a demo in Canada, ordered the guides and didn’t really have a clue how to use them properly. This was a great help.
Great tutorial as always Mary! Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. Loved the Thumping of Isabel in the background!
Ooooo! Mine arrive today! Thanks for echoing the lesson I’m trying to get through to my clear mount customers. I keep telling them Stampin’ Mist is not good to leave behind on the blocks and a little dish soap is wunderbar. @Maria, your son is just darling! Love it.
I learn so much with these videos you do about SU products that I did not even know was in the book or how to use.
Thanks .
Thanks you so much for the video. This is an amazing tool and I can’t wait to order it. What a wonderful idea!
Many THANKS Mary for this aweseome video on how to place and use the new grids from SU. I had ordered them in my last SU order and haven’t gotten around to placing them on all my blocks and now have the knowledge on how to place these onto all of my blocks. YOU ROCK GIRLFRIEND. Thanks for doing this video – sometimes words are the only way to get this old gal to understanding what the message is. Appreciate the time you took to make this video. See you Soon!
Hi Maria: I like the way your 5 year old thinks. Please tell him thanks from me! Hugs, M
I too learned about leaving the stamps, of the Clear Mounts, in their original holders, but, I you have taught me how to secure them to the case for storage. Wow, I didn’t think of that! Thanks Mary, once again you have come through!
Thanks for sharing this tutorial. I had no idea how these new guides were supposed to be used. And congrats on all your accomplishments this year!
Adorable little note cards for your down line!
Thanks for this video, Mary! I’m ordering the guides for sure! My 5 year old son was watching (on my lap)as well and he said “She’s good!” “Do you have those mom?” Your tips are always helpful and I appreciate you so much!
Thanks for another GREAT video Mary! I LOVE seeing tips from convention since I did not attend!
Good morning, Mary: I’m a big fan of clear mount stamps. I always choose them instead of wood mount if it’s offered. I haven’t seen those grid guides either so, I’m going to check the catalog again. Thanks for the tip on how to keep the “cling” on the acrylic blocks.
Maria.
Thanks Mary! I try to clean off my clear blocks but never felt they were ever really clean… so Dawn is on the list for the grocery today!!!! thanks
thanks Marty, as always your “little” tips make a huge difference and add to the enjoyment of stamping. Hadn’t seen the grid guides in the catalog so this is a great tip
