Butterflies for the holidays? What could be more elegant! I really like the finished results and hope you do, too. I'm digging the traditional holiday look of Garden Green and Real Red–just like I used for yesterday's card.
Please leave me a comment at the end of this post with your thoughts on this card. I love reading them and helping with your questions.
STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:
- Let's go straight to the butterfly–my favorite part of this card. I cut the Vellum butterfly using my Big Shot and Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die (a Stampin' Up! Exclusive).
- I inked the Fine Flourish stamp in VersaMark and stamped it on the butterfly. You can use a Stamp-a-ma-jig (SAMJ) if you want perfect placement. Use a little Dotto Adhesive to keep the butterfly in place while lining up the SAMJ.
- The VersaMark flourish was heat embossed with Black Embossing Powder.
- Variation–use Stampin' Write Markers to color the sections like a stained glass window!
- Bling, bling! Basic Jewels Rhinestones really jazz up the Big Designer Button and the medium size rhinestone fits neatly in the Antique Brad.
- That fun Real Red shape is the Top Note Bigz Die squared. Click here for my video tutorial to show you how to create it.

Mary,
This is definitely one of your top 5. Absolutely gorgeous. I LOVE the butterfly. And I always love traditional green and red for the holidays. SU has the best shades of those colors on the market in my opinion.
Cheers!
Brenda
my favorite holiday card yet! love the traditional green and red – so classic yet current with that darling butterfly!
This is one of the most beautiful cards I have seen – love the black and white butterfly with touches of red and green. Thanks.
I love your butterfly! WOW! It is just soooo gorgeous!
As always, BEAUTIFUL!! I love your clean, simple and elegant images! I really appreciate your stampin pretty tips. And I just watched your tutorial on making the “altered” top note. Many, many thanks!
I LOVE it!
Oooh, very cool idea! Love your execution! The card is perfect in every way.
Lovely butterfly! And I’m lovin’ your bright red and green against the white. Your details are always great!
The vellum butterfly is lovely………great idea!
Don’t look now, but i think that butterfly is going to leap right off the card! Beautiful design all the way around, Mary!
Mary- I LOVE the butterfly idea. One of my best girlfriends has made the quote “Never settle for less than butterflies” part of her mantra these days and for Christmas I was going to make her some home decor that incorporated that….I may have to work one or two of these butterflies in to that artwork for her. This is simply gorgeous. 🙂

Love it, first the coffee cup and now a butterfly! I also love how you stamped on the vellum!
LOVE the vellum butterfly! Gorgeous card.
I love using Garden Green and Real Red for Christmas colors too…does that make me a traditionalist?! The butterfly is an inspiration…would never have thought of using it on a Christmas card. This is giving me an idea for a Votive Card swap that I’ve been stressing over. THANK YOU!
Your butterfly is beautiful!
