I’m Nuts About You!

Stampin up animal crackers duo

My two projects today highlight a couple new Stampin' Up! products you may not have noticed (or tried) in the catalog–Canvas Cuts and Taste of Textiles Paper.

Stampin up animal crackers squirrel

My sweet Animal Crackers squirrel was inked in Chocolate Chip Craft Ink and stamped on Very Vanilla card stock.  TIP:  The advantage of Stampin' Up!'s Craft Ink (unlike Classic Ink, which I use for everyday stamping) is that it can be heat embossed.  It's sticky consistency grabs Clear Embossing Powder and, with the help of a Heat Tool, produces a raised, shiny finish in all the craft ink colors.  Tr?s cool!

Stampin up canvas cuts fashion district rub-ons Stampin' Up!'s Canvas Cuts coordinate with many of the Fashion District Rub-Ons (used here) for an interesting mix of fabric and pattern within a papercraft project.   I cropped the squirrel with a 1 3/4" Circle Punch and layered it over my scalloped Canvas Cut.  You can easily add rub-ons and stamp the Canvas Cuts fabric.

TIP:  Don't toss those sweet little borders in the Rub-Ons packs.  This little row of dots from Hidden Garden Rub-Ons adds a delightful accent.

CARD (5.5 x 4.25, scored on top):

Stamp Set:  Animal Crackers (113395)

Ink:  Chocolate Chip Craft (101816)
Cool Tools: 1 3/4" Circle Punch (112004), Trio Flower Punch (109183), Boho Blossoms Punch (110711), 1/2" Circle Punch (104390), Small Oval Punch (107304), Heat Tool (100005)

Stampin up bag with scallops die

"Bag-a-licious" is the best way to describe what happens when you zip the Bag with Scallops Bigz Die through a Big Shot.  Try it with Taste of Textiles Printed Kraft Paper and Riding Hood Red Textured Paper and you have a sturdy, charming, simple (adjective explosion–sorry) way to deliver a nut or candy treat.
TIP:  Use Sticky Tape for a sure fire way to keep Bag the pieces securely in place.

TIP:  Stampin' Up! now offers the Extended Premium Crease Pad (117630) to improve the definition of the score lines with any Bigz XL Dies (and avoid "cut" through, if this happens to you).

Peek-a-boo!  Pop out the center of the front panel with a Wide Oval Punch (before adhering the sides of the bag). Attach a rectangle of Window Sheet (Occasions Mini) on the inside with Mini Glue Dots.  Instant groovy window!  TIP:  Medium Window Sheets (used here) can be punched with Stampin' Up! Punches.  Thick Window Sheets (114324) can be shaped using Bigz Dies and make gorgeous elements on a card (think clear flower accents or a shiny scalloped oval frame).

Stampin up bag with scallops back FINAL TIP:  This tip is from my friend, Sandy Grupka (a former Guest Stamper).  Once I assembled the bag, I used a Crop-A-Dile to punch two holes (through the whole thing) to thread my Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon (gotta love the Very Vanilla trim).

BAG WITH SCALLOPS:

Paper:  Taste of Textiles Printed Kraft (113991), Riding Hood Red Textured (111345), Very Vanilla (101650)
Cool Tools:  Big Shot Die-Cut Machine (113439), Bag With Scallops Bigz Die (114519), Wide Oval Punch (112082), Scallop Oval Punch (114889, Occasions Mini), Large Oval Punch (107305), Trio Flower Punch (109183), Crop-A-Dile (108362)
The Perfect Touch:  Sticky Tape (104294), Fashion District Rub-Ons (113884), Riding Hood Red/Very Vanilla Trim Taffeta Ribbon (111365), Red Hemp Twine (102875), Window Sheets Medium (114323, Occasions Mini), Metallic Eyelet (Antique Brass, 105319), Styled Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware (112454, Brad)

  2. I have been eyeing the Taste of Textiles paper! I’m glad to see it up close and in action.

  3. This set is absolutely fabulous! I love the colours and textures and how you showcased the Canvas cuts and the textile papers. The two-tones box is particularly to my taste. And you’ve used the Animal Crackers on so many cute ^rojects! Love seeing you use that set. 😀

Thanks for sharing, and enjoy your weekend!

  4. way to go, mary!!! sooo many things i like about these projects. explosion of adjectives (teehee!!), the little touch of choc chip showing on the oval *nuts about you saying* – did you just *take a bite* out of the oval with a punch???? – the textured c/s (better start using mine – the incolors are almost outahere!) – the kraft envie lined with washington apple. i just love the animal crackers set but already have two very similar ones. oh, and the taste of textiles DP. not crazy about the whole spectrum of that paper but i DO like the kraft one!! thanks for sharing your splendid talents with those of us not so gifted. so so so (oops, does that qualify as an explosion???) much inspiration in every creation you post, i am ALWAYS learning something new, even if i dont make the card.
    hugs, jo ann.

    Hi Jo ann:

The sentiment “chomp” evolved when I stamped and embossed the squirrel and sentiment together (all one stamp). When I cropped the squirrel with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, it left the “chomp.” So I decided use the Small Oval Punch and fashion it into something useful.

Use your textured paper . . . it’s amazing. A word on the Taste of Textiles. I’m lovin’ it. The Black linen is gorgeous and I used the blue dot vellum for a project that will be published in June (woo hoo). You may want to give it another chance.

Hugs and thanks for all your wonderful comments!

    Mary
