World Card Making Day Challenges abound on Splitcoast Stampers and I selected a number of WCMD ideas to get my wheels turning for today's card. My color and design inspiration were from Tiffany, a member of my Stampin' Pretty demo group and host of yesterday's World Card Making Day Inspiration Challenge WCMDIC08. The Cool Tool for this project is awarded to Stampin' Up's 1 3/8" Square Punch. It made quick work out of my "crazy corn" background." An ambrosia of Really Rust, Elegant Eggplant, More Mustard and Basic Black card stock took trips through my Big Shot with the Cuttlebug Tiny Mosaic Embossing Folder.
TIP: The squares fit perfectly across this 5.5" wide card. It's almost like they lock into place–so easy. However, when starting from the top, there's a sliver of the card base (Elegant Eggplant Textured) left exposed from top to bottom (originally 4.25) so I just sliced it off when I was done. Voil?! Here's my previous card called Retro Quilt, using the same type of "quilted" background.
The sentiment was inked in Elegant Eggplant and stamped on Very Vanilla card stock. I snipped the corners with a Key Tag Punch and layered on Elegant Eggplant and Really Rust card stock. TIP: A couple More Mustard Brads add a zippy color contrast in the corners.
The sentiment panel leaf is a Fall Flair (Hostess Level 2) stamp, Basic Black ink on Elegant Eggplant. I shaped it with Paper Snips and adhered it with Stampin' Dimensionals to a Scallop Circle of More Mustard Textured card stock.
The horizontal panel begins with Really Rust Textured card stock. More Mustard and Elegant Eggplant 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon hop on top. OK, so the "Crazy Corn" background is a tad abstract . . . but this card still says "Fall" to me. Happy Fall 🙂

I love this stamp set but I’ve struggled to use it so far. I managed to get one card done with it last weekend (posted it on my blog), but I hope I can get more out of it. Love how you used the single leaf on your card.

Very, very pretty! My 4yr old has been on a roll about “Harvest Time” (credit preschool). She’s been spying all the big tractors harvesting crops, especially the really tall grass (corn :). I can’t help but look at your card and see the same gorgeous colors, textures, and layers in the countryside around me. (Again, I love the placement of the scalloped circle/leaf accent).
your use of the 1 3/8 inch square punch (COOL tool) is impressive!! i am very left brained and never even considered that. and i love your use of textured c/s … not just on this card but on many of your previous creations. i am in the process of building my textured collection and then … actually USING it :O

Wow – beautiful card, Mary! I just love the colors you used. They scream fall – the purple is the crowning touch, IMO. Just gorgeous!!! And I agree with the PP who said your photography skills are awesome as your cards really do pop on the computer screen. Almost as good as getting a card in person since the colors are so vivid and you can see the texture and anticipate what it feels like.
Mary…I just had to say that your photography is awesome…really shows off the beauty of the cards you make! If I wasn’t a hobby demo already, I would jump to sign up under you…your site shows how much you care and the quality of how you do what you do!
