Punchy Petal Power

Stampin up 5 petal thank you

Here's another sneak peek using Stampin' Up!'s new Scallop Edge Punch to make rick rack "ribbon" and showing off Bella Rose Designer Paper.   All sneak peek items will be available for on-line customer purchase beginning Aug. 11.  The Fall/Winter on-line catalog will be posted once it's available on the 11th or you can purchase a Fall/Winter Idea Book and Catalog through me for $9.95 (I cover the cost of priority shipping) by ordering your copy here.

On to today's card . . . . the "thank you" sentiment was inked in Chocolate Chip and stamped on Whisper White card stock.  Stampin' Up!'s Small Oval Punch gave it a new figure and a Large Oval Punch created a perfect mat in Riding Hood Red.  SHHHHH:  Coming up in the Fall/Winter catty  . . . . a Wide Oval Punch with coordinating stamp set.

The stamp below the ovals is from Frames with a Flourish.  It's inked in Chocolate Chip ink and stamped on Kiwi Kiss card stock.  I snipped it out with my Paper Snips and mounted it using Stampin' Dimensionals for a little 3-D jazz.  TIP:  Two pink brads (Soft Subtles) pull in a sweet touch of pink.

I discovered the rick rack ribbon idea on Splitcoast Stampers.  TIP:  Using Riding Hood Red Textured Card Stock, I punched one side using Stampin' Up!'s Scallop Edge Punch (click for details on how to use the punch), flipped it around (setting it slightly off from the first row to create the rick rack effect) and used the Scallop Edge Punch again on the opposite side.  Voil?!  It's layered on a horizontal banner of Pink Pirouette Textured card stock.

The card base (which you don't see) is Whisper White, 5.5 x 4.25.  On top, I layered two patterns of Bella Rose Designer Paper, using the Scallop Edge Punch again to dress up the bottom of the rose pattern.  The 5 Petal Punch snaps out three Kiwi Kiss textured flowers which get even prettier with Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette textured flowers in the center . . . whipped up using the Boho Blossom Punch.

I love the way the new In Colors can look soft in one setting (today's card) or incredibly bold in others (example here).

  2. I NEEEEEED that punch. Only one more week…please let it come quickly =)

Thanks for some great inspiration, Mary!

  3. Luv luv luv the card! Can’t seem to find the info on exactly how to do the ric rak with the scalloped punch…any tutorials out there?

  4. This card is awesome!!! I can’t wait for those new colors!!! I love the look of layered punches too, it makes such a statement!

  5. Another reason we need that punch. Who thinks of those things? I love that Bella Rose paper. Your ideas astound me. Thank goodness we have Mary to help us get ideas. What would we do without you? I’ve never been able to put rick-rack on my cards because the colors never matched, well look out, I may need to buy two of those punches to make sure I have a back-up. Thanks for all that you do for us that are mentally challenged.

  6. Very pretty! And how cool is that rick rack with the scallop punch?!!! The textured papers give this card a great look!

  7. Me too! I love everything about this card; i.e, rick-rack … well that’s the brilliant use of a tool ;), the dp, the punched flowers, and oh I just gotta have the “Frames w/Flourish” … who knew! 7 days to go! Open, open, open!

  8. That paper is so pretty! I love it!

The paper ric rac comes in handy when you don’t have the regular stuff in the right color. Nice touch!

  9. O MY, another gorgeous card, I must have Frames with a Flourish :), matter of fact I must have every thing you use to make such gorgeous cards. Even if I have them my cards will not look as beautiful as yours.:), but with the right tools I can really HOPE. 🙂

    Hi Becky:

I’ll have to introduce you to my “waste basket” (perhaps a photo is in order) after a project. It is fed regularly with all my “practice” ideas which don’t make the blog.

Practice is the name of the game (and cool stamp sets and toys). I’m sure you’re work is divine.

    Hugs,

    Mary
