This quick Balmy Blue Bee My Valentine card looks just as adorable when Balmy Blue is exchanged for Gorgeous Grape, Pretty in Pink, Crushed Curry (classic) or Coastal Cabana. I had a hard time deciding on a color and I believe just about anything goes! What’s most important is to encourage you to use your imagination with color.
FREE! Here’s a FREE Stampin’ Up! Color Chart you can download (black background) or print (white background) as a handy reference tool. It includes all 50 current Stampin’ Up! Colors plus the “Basics” on one page.
WHAT I LOVE! So easy! That sweet frame was cropped with two squares from the Stampin’ Up! Stylish Shapes Dies, one inside (2 3/4” square) and one outside (1 7/8 square).

my simple card tutorial
how to cut your cardstock & dimensions:
- Balmy Blue Card Stock:
- Card Base – 4 1/2 x 11, scored at 5 1/2 (top)
- Bee -4 x 3 (before punching)
- Basic Black Card Stock:
- Layer – 3 3/4 x 5
- TIP: Save on card stock by cropping the frame from the 3 3/4 x 5 layer.
- Basic White Card Stock:
- Sentiment Layer – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4
- Antenna and Wings – 4 x 2 1/2 (before punching)
how to make this simple card:
Burnish the fold of the Balmy Blue card base with a Bone Folder.
Use a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard or Mini) and nest the Stylish Shapes 2 3/4 square (outside) 1 7/8 square (inside) onto the center of the Basic Black layer. Line them both up and use Post It Tape to keep in place. PRETTY TIP: Save on card stock by cropping the frame from the 3 3/4 x 5 layer.
Before adhering the frame, temporarily add it to the card with Post It Tape so that you can line up the sentiment.
Use a Mini MISTI to position (within the frame) and stamp the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Watch my 1 Minute to WOW video: The Magic of the Mini MISTI for a quick demonstration here.
Adhere the Basic White sentiment layer to the Basic Black layer and then to the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Wrap with the frame with Balmy Blue Baker’s Twine Three Color Pack, securing with a bow as shown.
Adhere the frame to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Use a Mini MISTI stamp tool to stamp the antenna and wings in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto Basic White card stock and the bee body and face onto Balmy Blue card stock.
Crop the antenna (small heart) and wings (large heart) with the coordinating Bee Builder punch. Repeat for the body/face and heart (Balmy Blue).
Adhere the antenna and wings to the back of the bee body with Mini Glue Dots.
Adhere the bee to the frame as shown with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Adhere the heart to the frame with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensionional.
PERFECT POLISH! Stamp the flower stem in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and the flower petal in Balmy Blue Classic Ink onto the back-left corner of a Basic White Medium Envelope Flap.
