One of the most gratifying parts of creating today’s birthday card was placing the adhesive backed Opaque Faceted Gems (Calypso Coral, Pecan Pie, Pool Party) on each candle “flame.” The gems add so much color and personality and inspired the color combination.

WHAT I LOVE! Check out the fun and funky die cut “stitching” on the 5 x 3 3/4 Calypso Coral layer. I used the Stampin’ Up! Stitched with Whimsy dies to dial up the details.

CUT YOUR CARD STOCK – DIMENSIONS:
- Very Vanilla Thick Card Stock:
- Card Base – 11 x 4 1/4, scored at 5 1/2 (opens to the left)
- Pecan Pie Card Stock:
- Layer – 5 1/4 x 4
- Calypso Coral Card Stock:
- Die-Cut Layer – 5 x 3 3/4
- Flagged Die-cut – scraps
- Pool Party Card Stock:
- Layer – 4 x 2 3/4
- Very Vanilla Card Stock:
- Stamped Layer – 3 3/4 x 2 1/2
- Die-Cut Sentiment – 2 1/4 x 1 1/2 (before die-cutting)
PROJECT TUTORIAL:
Begin by burnishing the fold of the Very Vanilla Thick card base with a Bone Folder.
Adhere the Pecan Pie layer to the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Use a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard) to add detail to the Calypso Coral layer with the 2nd Largest Stitched with Whimsy die. .
Adhere to the card with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Use a Clear Block C to stamp the candles (alternating Pool Party and Calypso Coral Classic Ink) and flames (Pecan Pie Classic Ink) (Cake Fancy Stamp Set) as shown on the Very Vanilla card stock layer.
Adhere to the Pool Party card stock layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Use a Clear Block C to stamp the sentiment (Cake Fancy Stamp Set) in Pecan Pie Classic Ink onto the Very Vanilla piece.
Crop with a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard or Mini) and the 1 3/4 x 1 1/8 Nested Essentials flagged die.
Crop the Calypso Coral card stock scrap with a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard or Mini) and the smallest Nested Essentials flagged die.
Adhere together as shown with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
POP OF PERSONALITY! Embellish with Pool Party and Calypso Coral Opaque Faceted Gems.
PERFECT POLISH! Center, line up, tape to secure (Post-It Tape)the Basics Borders scalloped edge die, then crop with a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard).
