Create a Sophisticated Sunburst Sympathy Card

A Sympathy Card created with the Heartfelt Hexagon Bundle and Patchwork Pieces Dies by Stampin' Up! Cary by Mary Fish, Stampin' Pretty

Today’s card turns a strong floral pattern (Fresh as a Daisy Designer Series Paper) into WOW! using the Stampin’ Up! Patchwork Pieces sunburst die. Simply space each piece 1/8” apart and layer on a 3 1/2 x 5 of card stock. That leaves a 1/8” border of card stock for a beautiful balance.

TIP: I trimmed the Basic White card base to 4 x 5 1/2 so that the proportion with the die cut image and layers look evenly proportioned.

WHAT I LOVE!  The Stampin’ Up! Heartfelt Hexagon Bundle offers the kind of possibilities I crave. The Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set images have a lovely mix of multi-occasion fonts (including this pretty “sympathy” sentiment) and the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch is a “must-have” for cropping sentiments and creating shapes.

NEED SKETCH INSPIRATION?  The layout of today’s sympathy card was inspired by the newest addition to my Stampin’ Pretty Sketchbook, Sketch #79 which I shared Tuesday!

  • Basic White Thick Card Stock:
    • Card Base – 4 x 11, scored at 5 1/2
  • Copper Clay Card Stock:
    • Layer – 3 3/4 x 5 1/4
  • Pretty Peacock Card Stock:
    • Layer – 3 1/2 x 5

PROJECT TUTORIAL:

Begin by burnishing the fold of the Basic White Thick card base with a Bone Folder.

Adhere the Pretty Peacock and Copper Clay layers together and to the card as shown with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Use a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard) to crop the the Designer Series Paper with the Patchwork Pieces sunburst die.

Adhere the pieces 1/8″ apart onto the Pretty Peacock layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Use a Clear Block C to stamp the sentiment (Heartfelt Hexagons Stamp Set) in Pretty Peacock Classic Ink onto the right side of a Basic White piece. This puts the sentiment closer to the edge of the card stock so it’s an easy “reach” for the punch.

Crop with the coordinating Heartfelt Hexagon Punch.

Adhere to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

POP OF PERSONALITY!  Embellish with a trio of gold Festive Pearls.

  2. I love this beautiful card using the Starburst die. The separation of the pieces makes an awesome card. Enjoy your day!
