Welcome to the Pals August 2018 Blog Hop. We love to cut it out so this month our creations feature our favorite “cuts” using punches, Framelits and Thinlits from Stampin’ Up!

You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Create a winter holiday Christmas card with Stampin Up Ideas

On today’s project, I used oodles of layers and gorgeous, new products from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog, available starting Sept. 5.  There’s something really beautiful about layers of Very Vanilla and gold!

This Stampin’ Up! video shares even more tips and ways to use the Winter Woods bundle.

STAMPIN’ PRETTY STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL:

Create a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card base with Thick Very Vanilla card stock and the Stampin’ Up! Stampin’ Trimmer.

Adhere a 4 1/4 x 3 piece of Very Vanilla card stock with Snail Adhesive to a 5 1/4 x 4 piece of Gold Foil as shown.  Adhere both with Snail Adhesive to card base.

Create the evergreen trees using the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Very Vanilla card stock and the two evergreen tree dies from In the Woods Framelits Dies (available Sept. 5).

Bump up the texture by using a Paper-Piercing Tool to loosen and lift the die cut boughs of the smaller evergreen tree.  I painted Clear Wink of Stella Glitter on the edges of both trees as well as the boughs of the smaller tree.  Adhere the small evergreen tree with Snail Adhesive to the larger evergreen tree.

Heat emboss the sentiment from Winter Woods Stamp Set with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Very Vanilla card stock.   Trim to approximately 3 x 1 1/8 and flag one end using the Tailored Tag Punch.  Adhere with Snail Adhesive below tree.

Emboss a 3 x 1 strip of Very Vanilla card stock with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Big Shot.  LOVE THIS DIE!  Crop with the curved die piece from In the Woods Framelits Dies.  “Paint” raised “bumps” with Clear Wink of Stella Glitter.  Adhere “snow” layer with Snail Adhesive to the bottom of a 3 x 3 1/2 piece of vellum.

Adhere vellum with Stampin’ Dimensionals to a 3 1/4 x 3 3/4 piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  Wrap vellum/Very Vanilla card stock layer with Gold 3/8″ Metallic Ribbon and tie in a bow.

Adhere tree/sentiment as shown with Stampin’ Dimensionals and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Adhere ALL with Stampin’ Dimensionals to card base.

  1. I just sent you an email with the details about a scam website using one of your images of this gorgeous card to sell their knock off of SU! Winter Woods dies. Gotta stamp out these crooks!!!

  2. Oh, Mary. This is magnificent. I have long loved white on white cards and recently have come to realize how pretty they can be with a touch of color. I live this new bundle and will be ordering it in October, which hopefully will give each enough to make this year’s Christmas cards. I just love the “ruffle” look createdby the die for this tree and it reminds me of my favorite evergreen – the Canadian hemlock. Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial and I doubly thank you that it is not a video. I guess it is my advancing years but I would much rather text and photos which I can print out and put in a binder, than something that takes a lot more time to watch and cannot be printed out. Just one of my quirks. This is gorgeous and I intend to get busy as soon as I get it ordered.

    • What a lovely comment, Nancy. I try to offer videos as well as pdf tutorials . . . so you get to use what works best for YOU!

  8. Mary, this is one of the most beautiful cards I have ever seen! I was on the fence about this set but this card sealed the deal. I will use it to make a framed art piece for Christmas for each of my three daughters. Thanks so much for hatching the idea!

  9. Oh My GOSH! My jaw just dropped when I saw this card!!! Absolutely stunning! You are the great enabler because I didn’t think I needed this set because I have Lovely As A Tree but, now it will be on my next order!

  15. What a SUPER STUNNING card you have created my friend. I adore everything about this card.

    • Thanks, Kadie. It’s a lot more layering that I typically do. However, with all the possibilities for texture, I couldn’t stop.

    • Thanks, Linda. I futzed with it longer than most cards but ended up loving all the 3-D and splash!

    • Something tells me you would have knocked this card out a lot faster than I did. LOL! Thanks for stopping, BK.

  16. I know just the people who will be getting this stunning card this year. Mary, tre elegant!!! (And thank you for showing this bundle, as I didn’t “get it” from the catalog pictures)

    • I almost passed it up, too, Celia, thinking I had plenty of trees. The samples in the catalog and this tree sold me and now I’m thrilled to own it!
