Pals Blog Hop: Stepping Up with Textures or Techniques

Welcome to our Pals Blog Hop, May 2018. This month we’ll be “Stepping Up with Textures or Techniques.” What’s that? Projects that are “stepped up” by using textures or fun techniques. Who knows, maybe both! Join us in the fun while the we inspire you to step up your creations.

You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Create a simple birthday card using Stampin Up Frozen Treats dies - Mary Fish StampinUp Idea

Today’s card is super sweet and combines dry embossing (polka dot background on Peekaboo Peach) and technique (heat embossed sentiment).  Even the Melon Mambo dots (Brights Enamel Shapes) add a pop of texture!

The retiring Stampin’ Up! products used on today’s project are available while supplies last and discontinued after May 31.  Stamp sets are guaranteed available until May 25.

Just announced!  See the list of select retiring and discounted products here.  The Frozen Treats Framelits dies are 25% off while supplies last.

STAMPIN’ PRETTY STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL:

Using a Stampin’ Trimmer, create and score a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base with Thick Whisper White card stock.

Adhere a 2 3/4 x 5 piece of Melon Mambo card stock to card base as shown (approximately 1/4″ from the card base edge on the top, bottom and left).

Emboss a 3 3/8 square of Peekaboo Peach card stock (retiring color – See Color Revamp) with the Polka Dot Basics Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Big Shot.  Adhere as shown using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stamp “sweet” (Cool Treats Photopolymer Stamp Set – retiring) with VersaMark ink on a 3 1/2 x 2 piece of Basic Black card stock.  A Stamparatus stamp positioning tool (available June 1) makes placement perfect!

Heat emboss “sweet” using White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the Heat Tool.  Wrap Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine around the black layer and tie in a bow.  Adhere sentiment to the Peekaboo Peach layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Tone on Tone!  Stamp the ice cream image with Melon Mambo ink on Melon Mambo card stock.  Stamp cone image with Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake card stock.  Both images are from Cool Treats Photopolymer Stamp Set (retiring).

Use the coordinating Frozen Treats Framelits Dies (retiring and 25% off), the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine and Magnetic Platform (to keep images in place) to crop the cone and ice cream.  Adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals as shown.

Add three coordinating Melon Mambo dots from Brights Enamel Shapes (retiring).

For the perfect polish, adhere a black and white stripe from Tutti Frutti 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper (retiring) to the envelope flap.  I prefer to use Multipurpose Liquid Glue for this.  Use the envelope flap as a template and remove excess designer series paper with Paper Snips.

  2. Love, love love this card. The enamel dots remind me of ice cream drips…super cool!

  3. This color combination will never get old, Mary! I LOVE your sweet, sweet card. <3

    • I considered Berry Burst in place of Melon Mambo but liked the splash Melon Mambo with Peekaboo Peach.

  4. Mary, love it! The colors really pop. A color combo and supply combo I will be using in my near future. Love it! 🙂 Maleta

  5. I always look forward to seeing your projects, Mary. They are so clean and fresh! Yay ice cream!

  6. Love this, Mary! I haven’t pulled this bundle out since last summer, but I’ll be pulling it out and using it again. It’s just so cute!

  7. Oh Mary, this card is just perfectly delicious and right on time to celebrate the warm and beautiful weather we’re finally having up here.
I actually went and got a couple of boxes of popcicles and ice cream for the kids, they are older now but still love a cool treat when they visit.
What a delightful combination of colors and, as always, your design compliments the main image beautifully.
Thank you so much for sharing.
    XO
    Maria.

    • Thanks, Maria. I remember how exciting it was to hear the ice cream truck coming down the street. I appreciate your “sweetness!”
