Find Your Creative Roots in Nature’s Poem

Create a simple encouragement card using Stampin Up Rooted in Nature - Mary Fish StampinUp

I snuck in some creative time this holiday weekend and played with oodles of new products from the Nature’s Poem suite, available starting Friday, June 1 (approximately noon, Mountain Time) when the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog begins.  These products offer year round versatility!

STAMPIN’ PRETTY STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL:

Create a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base using the Stampin’ Trimmer (it cuts and scores) and Thick Whisper White card stock.

Layer and adhere with Snail Adhesive a 2 x 2 3/4 Blackberry Bliss pattern from Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper on the left as shown.

Layer and adhere with Snail a 3 x 3 3/4 leaf pattern from Nature’s Poem on a 3 1/4 x 4 piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock.  Adhere to card base with Snail as shown.

Stamp sentiment from Rooted in Nature stamp set in Blackberry Bliss ink on a 2 1/2 x 2 1/4 piece of Whisper White card stock.  Layer and adhere with Snail to a 2 3/4 x 2 1/2 piece of Blackberry Bliss card stock.

Emboss and cut the large leaf (Rich Razzleberry card stock) and small leaf (Blackberry Bliss card stock) using Nature’s Roots Framelits Dies, the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine and Magnetic Platform.  TIP:  I find embossing first and then cutting the leaves easiest for lining up.

Adhere the small leaf to the larger leaf using a Stampin’ Dimensional and adhere both to the sentiment square using Snail.   For a pop of personality and color, add self-adhesive Faceted Dots in coordinating Blackberry Bliss and Grapefruit Grove.

Adhere sentiment square with Stampin’ Dimensionals to a 4 x 1 1/4 piece of Grapefruit Grove card stock.  Adhere the Grapefruit Grove piece to card base.

Adhere a Leaves Trinket (copper) with a Glue Dot tucked below the sentiment square as shown (right).

  1. Beautiful card, Mary. I love the way you layer things. The result is elegant, clean, and memorable. You’re my idol!

    • That makes my day, Karren. I’ll do my best to live up to your expectations!

  2. Hi Mary, it’s Sandra. Computer problems have kept me silent, (a very unnatural state for me), for a while. It is all fabulous! I am loving the new everything! Cannot wait. Nature’s Poem is one of my MANY favorites. Trees and leaves are favorites of mine. Flowers also. (You are beginning to wonder what is not my favorite by now!) And, Varied Vases Is so dainty, and makes such lovely cards that I am becoming very fond of your examples. Then, there is the DSP! Well, I tried to keep it short, but I have lost time to make up for. And I think and talk in run on sentences. Have a great week!

    • Thanks, Sandra. You are never late in leaving a comment. I love hearing your excitement for the new products.

  3. I almost missed this beautiful card, Mary. I love the colors and the leaves, but the copper trinket leaves really give it a nice surprise…and smile factor. I hope you are enjoying your Memorial day!

  4. Simply beautiful! The dark red is one of my favorite colors and looks great used for the skeleton leaves. Wishing you a wonderful Memorial Day and TFS.

  5. Very beautiful card! What is the lightest color that you used in the background leaves? some sort of faded yellow or the grapefruit?
    Thank you!

    • Thanks, Rebecca. The background leaves are designer series paper from Nature’s Poem. The color you see is Grapefruit Grove!

    • Thanks so much, Kadie. It was fun playing with the little details like the dots and leaf trinket!

  6. Good Morning Mary,
    Happy Memorial Day to you.
I love what you did with this stamp set. I wasn’t in love with it at first. I like your colors and this layout. Beautiful. I can see a lot of different ideas now.
    🙂

  7. Love your feedback, Linda. I love all the great colors, shapes and little details the Nature’s Poem suite offers. I can see the evergreen trees working for Christmas and winter holidays and the pretty leaves for fall!

  8. Oh Mary, this is a beautiful card–and so versatile. This time of year, it would be perfect for graduation. But I can see using it for so many other situations as well. Your layout is eye-catching and inviting; and the colors and patterns are wonderful.
This Natures Poem/Rooted in Nature bundle is at the top of my wish list. Thanks, as always, for your inspiration.
