Stampin’ Up! Gifts of Kindness Sympathy Card

A “thinking of you” card covers many occasions, including sympathy, “just because” or get well.  I used this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (MOJO354) to help me fit the pieces together!

  • The floral image from Gifts of Kindness was heat embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder for a shiny finish.

  • I heat embossed the top right flower a second time, cropped (with Paper Snips) and popped it over the original with Stampin’ Dimensionals for added dimension.
  • Rich Razzleberry buttons (Brights Designer Buttons) each get a touch of Whisper White Baker’s Twine.  Glue Dots keep them in place.
  • Simple.  The beauty of using Stampin’ Up! products is how everything coordinates.  Rich Razzleberry patterned paper, cardstock, buttons and 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon are a harmonious family on this card.

  • Gifts of Kindness stamp set has the perfect interior sentiment to pair with “thinking of you.”

  • The final polish comes from an envelope liner produced using Rich Razzleberry Designer Series Paper (Brights Designer Series Paper Stack), a Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine and Stampin’ Up! Envelope Liners Framelits Dies.

  1. I always like having a sketch to work from. Choosing one key color helps to keep the design simple vs. busy.

  2. What a great color combo! Those black flowers are demanding attention!

  3. Carol Carriveau

You had me at the colors…and then the design…beautiful!

  4. I just love this card Mary…the colors and the embossed flowers are fantastic! That plan made the whole card stunning and elegant! You are the best! Thanks, too for the dimensions…helpful! and sharing your creativity!

  5. LOVE your style, clean, crisp, with a WOW, and the “finishing” with the inside stamped on white and the beautiful matching envelope liner! LOVELY! Thanks for sharing! YEAH that you send them too and pass along the kindness and beauty! Just stunning!

  6. Good questions! My cards are typically 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 unless I state otherwise. I often dont measure the layers (kind of like a cook who puts in a dash of this or that) but am always willing to measure if you ask in a comment (and I still have the card available–I mail out most). For todays card, my polka dot layer measures 4 1/2 x 2. The pattern behind measures 5 x 1 1/8. The diameters of the circles are approx. 3 1/4 and 2 3/4 (using Stampin Up! Circle Framelits).

  7. Such gorgeous crisp colors. The embossing really adds to this card.

  8. Mary, What a pretty card. I love the colors and the lay out. Your embossed flower is so sweet. It just pops when you look at it. I love the whole card. Great job my friend. Have a great stamping day. Hugs, Ellen Hinds

  9. Oooooooo, MsMary , that’s such a BEAUITIFUL card , and the colors you used , love how you emboss it !
    Hugs frenchie ,

  10. To somewhat build on Jeanne’s comments, it would be helpful if you would give the outside card dimensions as well. Since you are using a medium-size envelope, I assume this means your card is 5.5″ x 4.25″, right?

  11. Gorgeous card Mary! Love the layout and the color coordination is super! Thanks for sharing!

  12. Beautiful card, I really love the colors you chose.

  13. marlene kiley

Very elegant card, love your color choices. Classy!

  14. Beautiful card, Mary…pops with the embossed flower, but somber enough to work for a sympathy card…

  15. The embossing steal this card for me. LOVE the layout!

  16. Your cards are absolutely great!! If you could put dimentions for layers in post that would be great!! We have a card ministry and for non creative people like me it would be great. I wish you lived closer!!!! God certainly gave you a talent!!

  17. Gorgeous card Mary, love the look of the black embossed flowers and the sweet little buttons on their centers. Sweet card for any occasion. Thank you for sharing.
