Playing with paper doesn’t always mean stamps and ink. Simple shapes and a cropped sentiment keep this card “Merry” and simple!

STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:
- ON SALE! The scallops on the tree were created using the Stampin’ Up! Large Scallop Edgelits Die. ORIG. $7.95 NOW $5.96
- Enjoy a rich, linen-like finish with Stampin’ Up! Core’dinations Cardstock. It adds oomph without looking too busy for this modern style.
- SAVE 30% on Gumball Green Core’dinations Cardstock (2012-2014 In Color Core’dinations Cardstock, ORIG. 11.95 NOW $8.37) and Real Red Core’dinations Cardstock (Brights Core’dinations Cardstock, ORIG. $23.95 NOW $16.77).
- Bling, bling at a discount! The star and “Merry” were cropped from Stampin’ Up! Silver Glimmer Paper. ORIG. $4.95 NOW $3.96
- To facilitate easy removal of the Expressions Thinlits Dies (“Merry”), I placed wax paper between the die and cardstock before. I adhered key areas of the sentiment to the card to keep it in place but left some of it “floating” to catch more light and add a 3-D effect (reminds me of wire this way).
- For the tree: I created squares (1.5″, 2″ and 2.5″) then lined up the scallop die to cut the “long direction” (turn the square so the point is at the top, like a diamond) or a little above the widest point so that the scallops come out neat and even. I’ll share a 1 Minute to WOW! Video to show you how tomorrow!

THINLITS EXPRESSIONS DIES:
This looks like a “Sandra Could Make it Card”, if I ever saw one. Gotta love it!
Thanks, Mary.
FYI . . . due to several requests I received today, I just did a 1 Minute to WOW! Video on how to create the scallop tiers for the tree using the Large Scallop Edgelits Die. I’ll post tomorrow (Sat.)
I believe it’s recommended to only use regular card stock or designer series paper with the thinlits dies . . . however, I tend to bend the rules a wee bit and used glimmer paper (wax paper method) with no problem. Unfortunately, I can’t guarantee the same results for everyone.
So cute! Great use of the dies!
I just love the simplicity of this card yet it certainly grabs one’s attention! Love it! 🙂
Wow! Fabulous card…loving it…agree with all other comments!

Hi, Mary: thanks for sharing this idea for a quick and easy, but beautiful card. It makes my day.
Fabulously festive Christmas card!! Love the colors and the fact that it can be done in a flash. Thank you for sharing.
I ADORE your card Mary! So clean and fresh. We used the Expressions Thinlits Dies at camp this week and several of the ladies even bought the Large Scallop Edgelits Die you used. Going to share this card with them……Guess we will be creating our Christmas cards this weekend. THANKS FOR SHARING FRIEND!
Hi Mary, Nice card!
Very festive card! I like the glimmer paper! Can the Glimmer paper be used with thinlits dies? The write up in the catalog makes it sound like it can only be cut with heavier cutting dies like bigz.
