Well, it didn’t get any easier her sophomore year. My husband and I moved my daughter, Caroline, back into her college dorm yesterday. It’s only about 1.5 hours away (Barrett Honors College at ASU in Tempe, AZ) but I miss her already. SNIFF!
I love this photo I snapped of her packed in the back seat as we drove to Tempe.
- Today’s card was created especially for Caroline using this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (MOJO307). Handmade cards really speak from the heart, don’t they!
- The sentiment from Yippee-Skippee stamp set was heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
- Stampin’ Up! Pearls Basic Jewels add a rich touch and are so easy to pop on wherever you want.
- Three little flags provide a chance to play with color and pattern. Watch my 1 Minute to WOW Video Tutorial for tips on creating flagged ends.
- The black and white chevron pattern (Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack) was cut to 3 1/4″ square and then cut diagonally.

OMG I made an “I love you card” for my daughter too with the sketch! Like they say great minds think alike 🙂 Love your card with all the fun chevron and dot papers. I love the pearls scattered on the one banner too.
Ah, what a beautiful young woman Caroline has become. They do grow up so fast. My youngest granddaughter is starting her sophmore year in college. Just remember…you are not losing a daughter – you are gaining a WHOLE dorm full of sweeties to make cards and send treats to. I’m sure they all love you:) Your card is delightful!!! hugs, judi
Beautiful card for a beautiful girl! My heart aches for you and at the thought of my son going away to college in a few more years. There’s no love…like a mothers love!
Ah, Mary…know that feeling – so glad she is going so sad she is gone. Sending you a hug and best wishes to Caroline. I can tell by her darling smile she is so capable of handling the year ahead. xo
Wonderful card. Beautiful daughter. I can’t wait to switch up the colors to make a similar one for my son who we just took to college as a freshman. He is over 12 hours away from where we live. He is also at ASU at Barrett Honors College. I;m so glad we live in the age of Skype.
My favorite colors and love the play on the patterns.
Oh my word, Mary! This is so fabulous!!!
I know how sad it is to send you child off to college. Mine has to go to an entirely different state now At least yours’ is close by (in the same state). Mine is leaving the end of this month and I miss him already!! sniff, sniff
What a beautiful picture of your daughter! My day is coming soon as my daughter is a sophomore in high school this year and it saddens me to think of her going away in two years even though I want her to spread her wings. The wonderful thing is they never real leave as they are forever in our hearts! What a beautiful card to give her!
Dear Mary, My heart goes out to you. O know how hard it is to send your daughter off to college. When we took my daughter to college it was eight hours away. in Massachusetts. We live in New York, We all cried so much we had to pull the car off the road we could not see to drive. My daughter is now a over the road coach bus driver so we do not see her very often.
Your card is amazing as so is your beautiful daughter. I love the colors and all the details. Caroline is so lucky to have you and your husband as her parents. Happy Stamping. Thanks for sharing a special part of your life with all of us, Ellen Hinds
Great job with the sketch Mary. Fabulous color choices!
Beautiful card for a beautiful girl! An extra hug to you Mary.
Caroline is obviously a smart young woman as I see she uses Mary Kay! (I’m a Mary Kay beauty consultant as well as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator.) And your card uses Mary Kay colors, too!
Great papers and use of the sketch! Hugs to you mom – I know it will kill me when my kids leave and I’m not looking forward to it!
Beautiful card that says it all. When we dropped our oldest son off at UK I cried all the way back to Fort Knox. My husband and youngest son threatened to stop the car and kick out if I didn’t stop the crying. What can I say but Mother Love!
ooh Ms Mary , STOP , IT MAKES ME SAD!!!
I know what it is missing a daughter …. for 20 yrs ,
so glad she move here ….
now I wish my grand daughter would do the same , but NO , she has. boyfriend , so stayed with Dad , sigh, she says maybe some day grandma ….
not good enough …..
yep some day ….
hugs frenchie ,
Great Card Mary! I’m just betting this shares a bit of Caroline’s personality. Classy, Contemporary, Fun Loving and sharp as a tack. Trimmed off with a little pearly sweetness that always shines through, no matter what. Love the card and the picture of Caroline. What a cutie!
I know the empty nest syndrome is no fun, especially when it’s the last one, but think of proud of her you will be when she finishes. Almost brings tears to my eyes thinking when mine left. Great card Mary and hope your daughter does well.
Perfect card . . . everything about it! I’m sure she loves it!! Great pic :o) I dropped mine off for her first day of High School and I’m wondering where the time went. Hope you are doing ok today!!!
Gorgeous card! Love the chevrons, banners, hearts, and pearls! And,sweet photo of your daughter!
What an awesome card, Mary! Perfect in every way for a beautiful young lady! Love the sweet, random pearls! That stamp set is on my wish list.
I freakin love your card! 🙂
Adorable card! Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Farida
Love the card! Missing your daughter already is something I so get. I’m in FL, she went to college in TN and now lives in AZ.
It’s a perfect card to make her smile, hugs to you, since I know it is a hard time!
Absolutely everything is great about this card. The colors, the pearls, the sentiment. I “freakin’ love” it.
Caroline is beautiful. Glad she is only 1.5 hours away; sometimes that was how long as I spent in traffic on the way home from a days work. (So glad I’m retired.)
Stamping is a good way to deal with empty nester syndrome.
Caroline is as beautiful as her mother! Love the pic!
Mary your card is exceptional, as always!!
Another great card, Mary! My youngest returned to college yesterday too. Although he’s only 2 hours away, I miss having him around the house. Sniff! Thanks for all of your inspiration.
Beautiful card and gorgeous daughter. I know how you feel. Mine was just about an hour and a half away for all of her undergrad. Now for grad school we just dropped her off over 1500 miles away. I don’t like it!
Good-bye hugs to Caroline from me. Pretty awesome card…..Sure she loved it and will proudly display it up in her dorm.
As I’ve said to you before….Mom & daughters have that special bond…..always! I know how you feel- been there. This is a beautiful card for a beautiful daughter from an awesome mom!! Thinking of you! HUGS!
