Today’s card (shared yesterday on my Stampin’ Pretty Facebook Page) is for my husband, Scott. He’s a “no frills” kind of guy so a change up from traditional Valentine’s day colors and a bold, graphic design are essential. I was inspired by the retro colors (More Mustard, Pool Party, Soft Suede) and design from this advertisement from a local restaurant (best guacamole in Tucson)!
STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:
- A 1″ Square Punch pops out this fun pattern in seconds.
- I used the new Stampin’ Up! Hearts Collection Framelits Dies (new in the Occasions Mini Catalog) to crop all three hearts with my Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.
- The Pinking Hearts Border Punch is “spot on” for a valentine (and so much more).
- A coordinating More Mustard Designer Button with a touch of Linen Thread breaks up the symmetry.
- This card measures 6 x 4 1/4″. One of the dangers of stamping at 3:00 a.m. (one of my favorite cures for insomnia) is getting to the finish line and realizing your card is not 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ as planned. Fortunately, it fit like a glove (you could even go an 1/8″ smaller on the width for an easier fit) in our large cello bag (6 x8″). I cut off part of the cello bag top to shorten the “flap.”

Hi Mary…I love your card – it’s a nice change from reds & pinks – more masculine!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who stamps at 3:00 am when I can’t sleep…or maybe I can’t sleep because I’d rather be stamping! Anyway…have a great Valentine’s Day
Hi Tracy . . . as one of my Tucson “peeps” I’m game for guacamole at Blanco’s any time! Hugs, M
What a wonderful card, Mary. I am sure your hubby will
love the card (as would any guy). love the colors and
design. Thanks for sharing. Happy Valentine’s day to
you (on Tuesday)!!!
Dear Mary, This is such a nice card you made for your wonderful husband. He is so lucky to have you. You are so talented. I love the colors. Thanks for the inspiration.
Have a wonderful stamping day. Happy Valentine’s day. I always feel so special when you send your daily site to my computer. Thanks, Ellen
Wonderful masculine card, Mary! I am sure it will be a hit with Scott!
Mary, These colors are great for a masculine Valentine’s Day card. Your creativity has me thinking it would be nice to always do a gift card holder to reflect the colors of the restaurant, store, etc Like I’ve said before I always leave your blog feeling inspired. 🙂
Love those colors! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Such a great idea for a masculine card! I just love it! The colors are perfect & a nice change from traditional Valentine colors for a man. I can see using something like this for a anniversary card as well by just changing up the sentiment. I’m sure he’s going to love it!
I think the 6 x 4 1/4 turned out well for this design! As soon as it uploaded I thought the card looked a bit larger than normal. I love these colors and the design! Yet again a very clean, beautiful card! 🙂
Mary-great looking card. Love the colors. I am beginning to “leave my comfort zone” for holiday cards. Feels good. No complaints from card recipients so far.
Have a great Valentines Day yourself.
Mary, you are so creative! I love love love this card, the color combination is fantastic. I may have to case this one for sure. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talents.
THis is very cute and love the color combo.
Your designs are always the BEST and so classy! I love Blanco too…great tacos and guac. We should have lunch, yes?
I think your hubby is going to LOVE his card! Very pretty colors.

Ellen
Love, love, LOVE this card. The colors are fabulous!!!! I just love your blog.
cute card….those pesky odd sized cards always perplex me but the cello bag with altered flap sounds like the perfect solution!
Fabulous card Mary! Pretty sure that Scott will LOVE his Valentine’s Day card. I would consider CASEing this card…..but think Jack and Scott might compare cards someday and wonder why they got the same card for Valentine’s Day. Many THANKS for sharing yet another amazing one of your creations! LOVE IT!
Awesome guy card Mary..Great design and colors, and loving the back of the envelope.
