Bunny Hop

Stampin up eggcellent easter card front

This is my first pop-up card and I thought it would be fun to have the bunny from Stampin' Up!'s newly released An Egg-cellent Easter stamp set hop to attention while juggling his eggs.  This new set is available now as part of the Occasions Mini Customer Pre-Order.  Click here for details and to see all the pre-order options.

I began with a piece of Stampin' Up!'s quality, cold pressed watercolor paper.  TIP:  Good paper is critical in getting consistent results and to avoid pilling.  I stamped the bunny image in Basic Brown.  TIP:  Stampin' Up!'s Basic Black, Basic Gray and Basic Brown inks are waterproof, a watercoloring essential.

Using a Blender Pen, I lightly colored the bunny using Blush Blossom and Creamy Caramel for his body.  A touch of Pink Pirouette dots his cheeks.  The vest was shaded with Kiwi Kiss and the buttons and bowtie were colored with a Stampin' Up! Pink Passion Marker.

TIP: To create a more realistic watercolor look, I used a Blender Pen, Going Gray ink and a light hand to softly outline the bunny's image and eggs.  The darkest shades are on the left, with the "light source" coming from the right.

I cut out the bunny image and sponged the edges with Creamy Caramel.  To create the pop-up tab, I cut a 3.5" x 1" piece of Kiwi Kiss.  It's scored at 3/4", 1", and 1".  TIP:  I had to play a few times (opening and closing the card) to get the placement right.

The balance of the interior was lined with a charming Chocolate Chip polka dot from Bella Rose Designer Series Paper, Kiwi Kiss and Pink Passion.  I used Stampin' Up!'s Eyelet Border Punch to jazz up the PInk Passion strip and the Boho Flower Punch for a splash of colorful blooms.

The Very Vanilla card base is 4.25 x 5.5 and scored at the top.  On the card front, I again layered Bella Rose Designer Series Paper and Pink Passion (shaped with the Eyelet Border Punch).  The outside flowers (courtesy the Boho Blossom Punch) got an extra "wow" from Stampin' Up!'s 5/16" Jumbo Brads Neutrals.  The brad assortment comes in Chocolate, Very Vanilla (used here), Whisper White and Silver.  Very cool to have on hand.

The final touches include a silky piece of Kiwi/Vanilla Satin Ribbon and An Egg-cellent Easter sentiment outlined by a Large Oval Punch.  It's adhered to a Passion Pink scalloped oval, shaped by Stampin' Up!'s New Scallop Oval Punch (to be released in the Occasions Mini on April 1).

The predominant colors used for this project (Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip and Pink Passion) are part of Splitcoast Stampers Color Challenge CC208.  TIP:  Links to Splitcoast daily challenges are on my left side bar.  The idea for trying a pop-up card in conjunction with the color challenge was from myBrownSignature
