Cool Cards from Ellen S.

IMG_7232-001
Ellen Smallwood, a member of my Stampin’ Pretty Pals, shared these three cards with me–a perfect little collection to make for yourself or with friends.  I adore the little hexagons on the card above.

The burst of texture really amps up this birthday card.

Aren’t these umbrellas from the Stampin’ Up! Rain or Shine stamp set (Wood-Mount 126775 or Clear-Mount 126777) sweet?  Don’t miss the Cloudy Day Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (127022).

Many of the products on Ellen’s cards are from the Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog.  Check out MY TOP 10 FAVORITES from the Spring Catalog for inspiration.

  2. Mary, I always appreciate learning new design tricks from both you and your Stampin Pretty Pals. Thanks for taking the time to post these lovely cards from Ellen. I love her design of the umbrellas floating along the clouds. (Just ordered that embossing folder myself). The concept brings to mind the wonderful Disney film “Mary Poppins”. Beautiful job Ellen on everything!!

  3. I do hope that SU comes out with a punch soon!–I used a die from Cheery-Lyn Designs to cut the hexagons. It is just “a hair” larger than the SU embossing folder. Thanks for your generous comments.

  5. I really like the umbrella card. How did Ellen create the background layer for the top note? I have the top note die and love using it. I’d really like to be able to layer with it like Ellen did here. Did I miss a coordinating die sometime past. I don’t see anything in the current catalogue.

  6. DJ, I just found the tutorial on how to cut those Hexagons,go to Mary’s video library, it’s in alphabetical order, and look for “Quick and Easy Hexagons”. It’s fabulous how she does this and so easy.

  7. Lovely collection of cards. Thank you Mary, for sharing.
To answer the question posted by dj…..I do believe this little hexagons are cut by hand. Mary had a tutorial on how to do it here on her blog, I forget when but it was not that long ago. She just used the Honeycomb EF with DSP on the Big Shot and then, cut the hexagons and glued them on the card stock that was embossed with the hexagon EF.
I’ve been looking for an Hexagon punch but so far, no luck.

  10. Wow Mary–had to pin all three of those cards. I do love that Rain or Shine set. I am glad I decided to get it but now I wish I’d ordered the embossing folder. The umbrellas really need clouds! Oh well–I guess another order will be going in soon.
