Pretty trim (like lace) can add a sophisticated or whimsical touch to a handmade card. This week, the Pals Paper Arts Design Team challenges you to "Get Your Lace In Place" (or any type of trim–we're very open minded) on your next project. To see the PPA Design Team's clean and simple projects for the "lace" challenge (PPA73), CLICK HERE and play along.
I get to sing a little more today about new products from the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog (available Jan. 4). Here's the NEW PRODUCT ALERT for today's card
- Pompom Trim in Tangerine Tango (123323) lights up this sweet 4 x 4 card.
- Sweet Stitches Designer Big Buttons (122302) are floral "stand-ins" and pack a colorful punch. I used Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango buttons. Mini Glue Dots ( 103683) keep buttons securely in place.
- The Occasion Mini's Bold Blossom stamp set (WM 123232, CM 1222332) produces the stems and sentiment. A great "go to" set for quick cards. Need to see more of my quick card samples? Click here or access the "quick" card button on my left side bar.
Just for fun . . . I made a companion "house box" using the Mini Milk Carton Bigz XL Die (117310) and more adorable Pompom Trim.

Hi Mary,
Just want you to know I used your wonderful button flowers idea on my blog post here: http://thecardkitchen.blogspot.com/2011/01/first-paper-banner.html
Thank you for sharing your talent and creativity. Hugs, Liza
I love it and that trim is awesome. Hugs,
Super cute Mary! I had decided against the pompoms in the mini but now you might just have changed my mind!
So cute, Mary! I love those colors…what a nice break from all that winter. I love that your “just for fun” looks like hours of work and turns out just perfect! XOXO
Such cheery projects! Let’s me know that spring is just around the corner-LOL! I can’t wait until I get my hands on that pompom trim!
Love that pom pom trim and those buttons! Super cute card! And the bird house is adorable!!!
That little house is adorable! I makes for a perfect use for that trim!
Brings a whole ne meaning to the words button mums! Beautiful use of color and simplistic style.
Mike
Your card is so colorful and bright – love the trim! And the milk carton is tooooo cute!
Hi Doris:
I appreciate your thoughts. Frankly, a card this size (4 x 4) can’t be mailed in a coordinating envelope . . . it’s too small. It’s intended to be included with a gift or delivered in person. Our Clear Flat Cello Bags make beautiful “envelopes” when folded over, with room to play.
We also offer padded 6 x 9 envelopes for cards that have heavier embellishments . . . that’s what I use when I get a bit “bulky” with ribbon or embellishments and want to mail it.
Hugs, M
SU has gone overboard. How can we mail a card by regular mail, which I only do, with pom poms and large buttons. Give me a break.
Super Cute card with the buttons!!! AND congrats to you for being featured in the Stampin’ Success. You are fantastic!! Keep up the good work! I love your blog!
So bright and pretty – like the flowers have just popped up and are going to sing! Yes I have watched a lot of Disney in my day……..
Great job Mary! Well Done my friend 🙂 x
Cute, cute, cute! Love the pompom trim!
Such a cute card! You rock on making 4×4 cards! Your house, now that is adorable too! Refreshing color combo also.
