A Few Quiet Moments Without Drills & Hammers

I'm so excited to show you the progress of My Stampin Studio after Day 1.  I shared several photos yesterday on my Stampin' Pretty Facebook page of the play by play to be sure to visit!  The photo above represents how My Stampin' Studio looked last evening, without the melody of drills and percussion of hammers.  Of course, it it all begins again this morning!

I have planned out what will be organized in every drawer and on every shelf.  You are looking at my desk area (desk height).  My crafting area (counter height because I love to stand but will be able to sit as well) is on the main wall (right) with banks of drawers on either side for adhesive, tools and much more.  I'll walk you through every nook and cranny as things fall into place, I promise!

This open "tower" is the future home of my 8.5 x 11 and 12 x 12 paper storage.  I carefully measured so that ALL of it could be in this bookcase style cabinet (cut for extra depth) which will house my Stamp-N-Storage 8.5 x 11 and 12 x 12 paper holders.  I love the look of organized, colorful card stock.

  1. Taking notes! I just found out I’m getting a new craft room this year! Love watching your journey, Mary!

  2. Julie: The cabinets are from Kitchen Craft Cabinetry (Aurora series) out of Canada. I used a local (Tucson) kitchen design company (Innovative Interiors) to help with the final drawing (amazing what someone can do from my scribbles). Carol B. designed both my previous and this new studio. Shes terrific! M

  3. I think I would put up with just about anything to have a room like that. It looks great

  4. Hi Mary,
I don’t think I could stand it taking so long! I would be going nuts wanting it finished NOW!!
    Cheers Robyn (Queensland, Australia)

  5. Hi Karen: I love your confidence in me. The reality is that I dont even own a sewing machine. Card makings is the only craft I have ever tried and got hooked quite easily. The window treatment was left by the previous owner but I love the way the gray green plays off the wall color! Its staying! M

  6. My view out that big window, Nancy, is of a few cypress with the neighbors home behind, only about 12. Part of the tradeoff for moving to a new home was a smaller yard with fewer responsibilities. We have an incredible view from the kitchen, dining and master (mountains, city lights) so I havent given up too much overall. I plan to put a bird feeder outside My Stampin Studio window . . . that will definitely make me smile while I bird watch and stamp!

  7. Hey Mary your office looks stunning!!I’m in the process of designing my office! I’m wondering where you you got your cabinetry? Also who did your CAD drawing?
    Thank you so much.

  8. El, a Stampin' Pretty Pal

Wow, Mary! Your Stampin’ Studio is going to be even more fantastic than your previous one. Can’t wait to see the finished studio. What a great place to create and work!

  9. Nancy Schultz Toops

Mary, I love the idea of having a really big window right over your desk. And that paint color is so peaceful. Can’t wait to see the pop of red! Thanks for sharing.

  10. Mary,

What an exciting place to be “creative”! New demonstrator, so I am taking baby steps to setting up my basement for workshops and daily creating! Love the window dressing over your desk. Did you make that too! Can’t wait for the end results!

  11. Heavenly! I cannot wait to see the finished room…at the end of this week. Yay! I have a bedroom with a similar “contented” color and red accessories. I love that room and those colors together. Have fun this week as you unpack and organize.

  12. WOW! You are definitely a true artist. Balance in your work and your color choices are so fun and energizing! Off to find your Facebook pics …..

  13. Maggie Minnich

    Love it!

  14. Hi Celia: There will be brushed nickel pulls and the counter tops are a simple pattern in brick red (Pionite Phoenix AT391). Goes well with the cherry in the room and adds some drama and conrast to the ivory cabinets and Contented wall color 🙂 The crown and light molding was installed yesterday. Ill share more pix tomorrow and on my Stampin Pretty Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/stampinpretty) today! M

  15. Oh Mary! This is going to be THE Ultimate, isn’t it? You picked great colors, too. Are you planning on adding any handles/hardware, or are they cut for quick finger pulls?

  16. I really like the paint color even more with the cabinets next to it. Very calming. I am sure to see some pops of color soon!! Can’t wait!
