A Simple Sale-A-Bration Hello Card

It’s 3:30 a.m. and 20 minutes ago I didn’t have a card ready for you.  As I have shared previously, my husband and I have moved to a new home (simplifying our “digs”) and the last of the boxes was moved in this week.  The reality is that we have remodeling going on at the same time (including a new stamping studio–woo hoo!) and it makes unpacking and organizing a challenge, especially for a girl who needs everything neat as a pin.

Fortunately, I was quickly inspired in the wee hours by the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper in the Sale-A-Bration promotion brochure (including scooping part of the idea from the sample on page 4) and popped out a note card (Stampin’ Up! Note Cards & Envelopes) in minutes.

The even bigger blogging challenge among my mess is taking a photo.  So for those of you who wonder how I take my photos, this (above) ISN’T the norm.  LOL!  This is a shot of my kitchen which is getting a facelift.

A couple quick tips for you today (before I head back to bed for a few hours and the painters arrive).  I used the Scallop Edge Border Punch to trim the Summer Starfruit Cardstock and the Vintage Faceted Designer Button to add splash and sparkle. The buttons are on sale through Monday, January 27, as part of this week’s Stampin’ Up! Weekly Deals.  You could substitute the Scallop Trim Border Punch, which is also on sale!   Click to see ALL the Weekly Deals for Jan. 21 – 27.

Mary, love your card. Great tips on how to take picture. I’m glad I am not the only one who gets inspired anytime.!

  4. great job cranking out a beauty of a card despite the circumstances. Pretty sure I would have just gone back to bed! Thanks for the great sample and for the fun photos of your current working conditions….moving is fun but challenging! I keep thinking of the beautiful “light tube” you had installed in your old house and how you must have hated leaving a beautifully finished studio loft but I’m sure the new place will be awesome can’t wait for the photos! Can’t wait to see the progress in the new stamp room!

  5. Mary, you created this, in the midst of remodeling, unpacking, etc and at 3:30 in the morning? It’s DARK out here at 3:30 in the morning! Great card! Love the colors, and no matter what, I know you will be so excited to have your new cabinets ready to go soon. Just in time for Valentine’s Day! Can’t think of a better present than that…well, maybe chocolate! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

  7. Guess I was a little bleary eyed this morning. The Scallop Trim Border Punch is on sale as part of the current weekly deals, not the Scallop Edge Border Punch. I updated the post. Thanks, Elisha, for pointing this out!

I hope you will soon have your studio done. I know what it is like to be in a middle of a remodel. We remodeled our whole house. I was not doing my stamping like you are during this. I also love how you took the picture of this great card. You are amazing. Hang in there my friend. It will be all done in no time. Then you can settle your craft room the way you want it. Hugs, Ellen Hinds

  16. Ha ha ha! I get such a kick out of you, Mary! Love this card and I adore Note Cards & Envelopes, so I’m excited to see the newest DSP’s continue to be so card friendly. Thanks, too, for letting us in on the chaos of your move. You are one smooth operator to manage that AND blog! Cheers!

  17. Great way to crank something out in a short amount of time. Well Done Friend! (Next time….text me at that hour and you can have some company while your up at the early morning hours! I too was up at 3:30 this morning.)

  18. Mary, Mary, I love the photo of the way you took the picture of your lovely card!! LOL dear friend, you are indeed creative!!! I haven’t moved in 8 years and I don’t plan to do it ever again, but we all know the total chaos of packing and unpacking an entire house. Even under such conditions you managed to come up with a beautiful card, simple and fresh. I love the addition of that pretty button, it’s all the bling this card needs. I hope soon your craft room will again be a dream come true, I also hope you can share some pictures of your new crafting paradise.
