  • When you use the “negative portion” of the die cut, you might get a hint of embossing from the edges of the die.  I typically flip it over and use the “clean side” or use a bone folder from the opposite side to “iron” it out a bit.
  • Witches’ Brew Designer Series Paper inspired my color choices and provided the snappy patterns.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?  I like to experiment quite a bit before I finalize a card.  Three flagged ends looks cleaner.  Five look like scary teeth (according to my daughter)–perfect for Halloween.  Which version do you prefer?  Leave me a comment below.  I love learning what your artful eye sees!

LAST DAY FOR OCT. 8 – 14 WEEKLY DEALS including the discount on the Squares Collection Framelits Dies used for the Polaroid look on today’s card.   See Oct. 8 Weekly Deals.

There will be new line-up of weekly deals starting on Tuesday, October 15.

  1. I much prefer just the three flags; the other one is too busy

  2. I like it that you called the skull your “little friend”. On another card some time ago, you had a “sweet witch” on it. I like that! Puts these Halloween characters in a different light, doesn’t it?

  3. Mary, you always inspire me with your unique color combos! You’re the only one that I know that makes Summer Starfruit look great – lol! LOVE your use of the polaroid panel…going to pin this great card!

  4. I’m SERIOUSLY IN LOVE with the “polaroid” look. Thinking this is a great card to do with my Hailey Girl on Skype this month. Thanks for sharing Girlfriend!

  5. OMG Love this card and this sketch is one of my all time favorites! That little skeleton face makes the cutest cards in the world!!

  6. Carol Carriveau

Hello Mr. Skeleton!!! Love it….Mary…everything about your design!

  7. there’s nothing wrong with a little artistic discretion! you’ll love the punch board, connie!

  8. Mary, I like them both, but the one with 3 flags seems a bit heavy on the right side…so I’d have to say I really prefer the 5-flag version as it’s more balanced to me.

  9. Mary, I love your card. I am not big on Halloween , but this card and the envelope are so adorable. I also like the five flags on the card. You are so talented. Happy Stamping, Ellen Hinds

  10. Mary,
Even though I don’t make Halloween cards myself, your card tempts me to buy this paper and stamp! So cute. I appreciate your dilemma about the little flags; I settled on three wider ones for my card. I’m learning to use the sketch as inspiration and not feel compelled to recreate it exactly.
I also love the coordinating envelope. I ordered the Envelope Punch Board the day it went to backorder status; I’m anxiously waiting for mine to arrive!

  11. I can’t make the decision – five or three? – oh heck, I love them both!!

  12. I go with the three ends also. Mary, I am enjoying your custom envelopes and liners with your cards.

  13. Hi Mary!
Love the clean look of all your cards and this one is no exception. I like the 3 flag look, 5 seems to take away from everything else. TFS!

  14. Your card is cute, cute, cute. I prefer the 3 flags. Just a cleaner look. Thanks for the inspiration.

  15. Great both ways and love this layout!! You always do such a wonderful job!

  16. Mary Ann Huntington

I like the three flags best. The five make it look too busy. The envelope really finishes it off.

  17. This card is so cute, both with the 5 flags and the 3 flags. It’s the stamp that makes me smile.

  18. Ginger Toivonen

Both cards are fun but I’d vote for 3 flags. For me, the show stopper is that envelope liner – DELICIOUS!!

  19. I like that your opinions aren’t as unanimous today!

  20. there will be more 1 minute to wow tutorials. i have had to focus on a blog makeover these past few weeks. coming soon! m

  21. Hi Heather: I played with that as well . . . but tend to roll a little off balance 🙂 M

  22. Susan Mac Donald

the flags add so much of a *finishing touch*; I’m really having the 1-minute tutorials* withdrawal….it’s bad; I have a twitching of my right hand, my left leg’s asleep, I’m having palpatations & shortness of breath; please, bring back the 1-minute tutorials; this is the only cure!!! (L.O.L)

  23. Well hello Ms Mary’s ,friend. any one that’s ms Mary’s friend is MY Friend ,
Love you your sooo cute ,
Hugs to you , and see you soon !!!!

  24. I prefer the 5 flags because it seems to fit the card better. If I hadn’t seen the 5 flags, I would have liked the 3 flags. Fun card.

  25. Angie in Illinois

I love this card, especially the colors you chose. I’m a fan of summer starfruit. Either way looks great but I prefer the 3 flags. I’m going to steal your Polaroid idea for a card I’m working on. Thanks for another creative idea, Mary!

  26. I like the five, but would like the three if there wasn’t so much on the right side. Maybe switch the ribbon knot to left side to help balance out more. But I love the card and your work all the time . Have a beautiful day.

  27. Hmmm..I think I like the 5 teeth better. I like the way you made this “teeth” uneven on the bottom but the little skull peeking through that window is fabulous. Thank you for sharing this super fun Halloween card.

  28. I like both, but I prefer the three banners from a design standpoint, but I totally see what Caroline is saying! Great card!

  29. Honestly I liked the five better! I looked like teeth and just more complete!

  30. 3, for sure! The other looks too busy and bottom heavy. 3 is nicely balanced.

  31. Hi, great card! I like the one with the three flags at the bottom. Enjoy the week.

  32. I agree with Caroline, three flags are perfect. I am not sure if I saw teeth with all six flags but it made the bottom of the card look heavy.

I hope you enjoyed a great weekend together.
