This simple card is the platform for another creative way to display Perfect Poppies background stamp (image below), new in the Stampin’ Up! 2012-2013 Annual Catalog. It’s available in both wood and clear-mount. I used it previously on this card and feel like I have only begun to explore the possibilities.
The latest Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge (PPA137) was the foundation for today’s card. The sketch came from the imagination of Margaret Moody, a member of my Stampin’ Pretty Pals. Please be sure to check out the rest of the PPA Design Team’s card ideas for inspiration and play along.
STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:
- The Naturals Designer Buttons add a simple, organic touch. Use Stampin’ Up! Glue Dots to keep them in place.
- Lacy & Lovely stamp set offeres three sophisticated sentiments, including this “Thank You.”
- The 3 1/2″ Circle Originals Die was used (along with my Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine) to produce the largest circle. I cut first and then stamped it with the Perfect Poppies image.
- Very Vanilla 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon completes the look (and stays true to the sketch) without overpowering the poppies.

The queen of clean! And love the neutral palette!
You are getting such good use out of the poppies background stamp!
Mary, I love this color combo and boy you always make the best cards and show off the new stamps beautifully.
You are really rockin’ this stamp, Mary! It has moved its way to the top of my Wish List because of you!
I love this Poppy stamp! As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it – along with the orange Poppies that are blooming in my yard!
So classy in this combo as well, just like the other card! You’re quickly convincing me to order this one!
Once again we folk “down under” are very jealous of all the new catalogue goodies. Let’s hope the new Australian issue in September has this one too! Love them all.
I have been on your mailing list for about 10 days now and what a treat it has been!
I look forward to seeing your creations and the inspiration you give us all. Luv it!
Oh those poppies look wonderful in the “spotlight”! Love that River Rock!
hi judy. the first thing i’m going to suggest is to be sure you are using a new “touch.” lighter tapping or even turning your stamp face up and ink with the ink pad facing down can help control how much ink you transfer. i’m hearing this is the culprit for most people with drying issues. you’re simply getting too much ink on the rubber. however, of note, is that there can be drying issues when you stamp basic black (for example) on our whisper white card stock (or very vanilla, i assume)–due to the coating on whisper white (and very vanilla). in that case i recommend black stazon ink. the basic black firm foam style stamps and dries fine on other colors.
Pleasant Poppies was one of the first stamp sets that I tagged when I went through the new catalog. LOVE how clean and simple …. Yet elegant and charming this card turned out. GREAT JOB Girlfriend….Well Done!
On using the new ink pads I have found they do not dry as quickly – which smudges and gets on my fingers. It won’t just wash off my fingers like before but stains
my manicure even after hand washing dishes. Any suggestions on how to remove ink off my hands?
Thanks, Judy
It’s beautiful….I love that new Poppy stamp…
I love this, Mary! This stamp is perfect for this sketch! Great colors, too! You always know how to make it work! Hugs! – MM
