Birthday Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peek

Stampin up sale-a-bration happy moments birthday

Stampin up happy moments close up The hardest thing for me when it comes to sneak peeks from the Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration and Occasions Mini Catalogs (customer sales period begins Jan. 5) is deciding where to start.  Perhaps, letting you know that satin ribbon is back in nine Stampin' Up! colors, including Pretty in Pink and Chocolate Chip?  Or maybe you'll be intrigued by the fact that not only are there gorgeous, new punches but they are a new stackable design?  Designer Paper mavens will love the delicious, fresh patterns, including the Sweet Pea 48-sheet paper pack (double sided, 12 x 12).

I guess the cadillac of all this excitement would be the new stamps, available for the first time in clear mount and traditional wood mount options.  I used two brand new clear mounts stamp sets for today's card:  Happy Moments (Sale-A-Bration) and Well Scripted (Occasions Mini).

STAMPIN' UP! TIPS:

  • Stampin up clear mount stamps block For clarification, the clear mount stamps are red rubber not clear acrylic.  They are the same quality that Stampin' Up! is known for and the ultimate in coverage.  See photo above.
  • The blocks (nine different sizes available as a discounted bundle or individually) are clear.  Compared to other clear blocks I have tried, these are exceptional.  They are thick with comfortable, rounded edges.
  •  The stamps are die cut closer than those used with wood mount stamps.  There are vinyl cling images included that allow you to see the image of the stamp thru the clear block.
  • Now, imagine the delight in stamping with this incredible visibility.  How about positioning more than one stamp on a block at a time (check out tomorrow's post for an example)?  Better yet, peel them off the block and everything fits neatly in a DVD storage case.  Heaven!

  1. Mary, thank you so much for your lovely card ideas, and inspiration. I’m having a terrible time getting my new cling stamps to stay on the acrylic blocks. They want to slip and fall off. I have provo craft acrylic blocks and some other companies’ blocks. Do you think these blocks are very different than the stampin’ up blocks. Also the stamps fall all over the place, inside the storate cases. Any suggestions. I sure do like the design of the cases, etc., so that you can see the stamps you want at a glance.
Thanks so much, for any help!

Hi Merrily: The key is what I call the Three Second Rule! Whether adding stamps to clear blocks OR the DVD case, you need to hold the stamp (cling side down) on the surface for a full three seconds. It needs this much time to properly bond. Try it . . . . I’ll bet it makes a big difference. Mine cling so well this way that I can clean the stamps still on the blocks with my Stampin’ Scrub šŸ™‚ Hugs, Mary

  2. Hi Mary,

I probably could have read this in your recipe of the card. But is the lovely blue scalloped border a new edge punch from Stampin’Up!? I’m sooo excited about the new catalog that I can hardly stand it.

Just a tip that you may already know Mary & Missy. But I understand if you place your wooden block in the microwave for about 5 seconds it makes it easier to remove the stamp from the block.

    Merry Christmas!

Yes, indeed. It’s the new Scallop Trim Border Punch from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog. Hugs, M

  5. Mary, lovely card! I am thrilled with so much in the new Mini! I really like the idea of the clear mounts but I am worried that after time the stamps will not stick well to the acrylic block. Obviously I have not used cling stamps, which are different than acrylics, so what assurance does one have that they will continue to cling after multiple uses?

    Hi Stephanie:

I contacted Stampin’ Up! regarding the longevity of the new clear mount stamps and received the following. Please remember that they are not acrylic . . . they are cling red rubber with clear blocks:

Acrylic Stamps are very different than rubber stamps and your customer(s) has nothing to worry about. Our rubber stamps have a lifetime guarantee so if there are any problems we will take care of it for you and your customer of course.

  8. Hi Mary, WOW!! I am just amazed. The card is awesome and love the unmounted stamp šŸ™‚ Cannot wait for Sale-A-Bration catalog. Are the rules same as last time – I mean 50 dollars from the main or mini catalog earns you something from the SAB Catalog? Will you have the catalogs available for viewing on your site on Jan 5th? I am going to start saving up some money for this.
    Thanks!
    banu

Hi Banu: Great questions. Yes, the rules will be the same. $50 in any Stampin’ Up! product = one free Sale-A-Bration (SAB) item. No limit. On-line purchases included!!

So with a $150 product order, you would receive hostess benefits plus 3 (one for every $50) SAB gifts. This year, unlike no other, there will be choices from the big catalog for SAB (up to $15.95). The available stamp list will be included with the new SAB catalog.

Yes, I will be posting the download for the catalog on Jan. 5–the first date it is available to customers. However, all my existing customers (including you) will automatically receive a mailed copy of the new Occasions Mini and Sale-A-Bration Catalogs.

    Hugs, Mary

  9. Gorgeous, Mary,
I love the Well Scripted sentiment set. And now that I know the cling labels are designed to see when you’re stamping, I’m sold!

  10. How will you know which size clear mounts you will need to order when ordering a new clear mount set? Or will you have to purchase the bundle in order to receive the size you need????

Hi Donna: Good question. Block size can be a bit of a personal preference. I personally like them as close as possible to the die size of the stamp. You would need to look at the stamps (or measure the images in the catalogs) and determine which size block works best. The dimensions are included in the Occasions Mini. Nice variety from small and skinny (3/4″ x 2 1/2″) for sentiments to the largest (4 7/8″ x 6″).

  13. Mary,
My question is are they going to sell the DVD cases separately so that if someone wanted to unmount their other stamp sets and store them the same way? Just wondering because I am running out of room in my craft room. I thought about unmounting them but kinda scared! Or if anyone knows where you can buy them please let me know. I have put some of my clear stamps in cd cases but I have found that some of the longer clear stamps won’t fit in the cd cases like borders etc. Thanks in advance!
    Hugs!

Hi Missy: Good news for you! Stampin’ Up! will be selling the empty clear mount cases in sets of 4 for $4.95 beginning Jan. 5. You have me thinking about doing a little unmounting of my wood stamps to make space! Hugs, M
