Day four of my Fall/Winter Sneak Peeks Mini Marathon highlights the "Dreams" stamp from Stampin' Up!'s Dreams du Jour set (available Aug. 11). The new In Color, Riding Hood Red, and Woodrow Wilson's quote give today's card a vintage apple pie feel (or is it just my imagination)?
The "Dreams" stamp was inked in Riding Hood Red (in my opinion, the perfect red) and stamped on Very Vanilla card stock. TIP: I squeezed the Kiwi Kiss and Pink Pirouette Ink Pads to create a little pool of ink on the inside of the lid . . . just enough to lap up with my Blender Pen and add some color to the stamped image. I cropped and embossed the image with Nestabilities Ovals (available on-line thru Cut@Home). Ditto on the scalloped oval of Riding Hood Red. They layer beautifully. TIP: For a dash of interest, the edges of the main image were sponged in Riding Hood Red and the scallops each received a jab with a paper piercer.
The horizontal banner kicks off with a chorus line of Riding Hood Red butterflies (also from "Dreams du Jour"), aligned using a Stamp-a-ma-jig (click here for a tutorial). The edges are sponged in Riding Hood Red and the row of winged darlings is mounted on Riding Hood card stock.
An additional banner of Riding Hood Red, pierced along the top and bottom (using a template, of course), creates some texture along with the accent of green Dew Drops. The soon to retire Print Pattern Background Stamp (Riding Hood Red ink) quickly jazzes the Very Vanilla card base (4.25 x 5.5).
