I have had this faux tile design by Beate Johns in my pile of "really amazing cards" for some time. When I saw that she was the Splitcoast Featured Stamper (FS111) this week, I knew this was a perfect opportunity to CASE her card (with a contemporary twist of my own).
The trendy stem from Organic Outlines was dipped in Tangerine Tango and stamped on Whisper White. Next, the panel was cut, paper pierced and adhered to Chocolate Chip card stock. TIP: I used the template from my Crafter's Tool Kit (also available in Stampin' Up!'s Mat Pack, 105826) for assist in lining up the piercing around the edges.
The main panel is followed by Tangerine Tango, Sage Shadow and a 4.25 x 5.5 card base of Whisper White card stock. To accent the corner, I grabbed my Photo Corners Punch. Tangerine Tango and Sage Shadow were layered and anchored using Silver Brads.
The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!'s Heard from the Heart stamp set. TIP: I used a Chocolate Chip Stampin' Up! Marker to color and stamp only the "happiness" portion of the stamp. A Trio Flower Punch popped out the Tangerine Tango flower and a Silver Brad lands in the middle.

FABALICIOUS card Mary with the bold image and paper piercing. The sentimnet is the perfect touch with the small flower… Smiles! 🙂
Very fun card Mary. Had a thought for a variation. Stand it on end do the same tile effect but use the new damask decor stencil as your large focal image. Done in blue and yellow it might have an Italian or Portugese tile effect.
Hugs and blessings – Jean
Simply Gorgeous. Great combinations of colors
Awesome, love the colors. You do such beautiful work.
You amaze me! I know that I say that all the time, but wow!!! Every card you post makes me want THAT stamp set, THAT color ink and THAT color paper. Of course, I can’t leave out any other misc item that you use. (I have to have the piercer thing). Thanks for sharing all this beautiful work!.
P.S. I have been meaning to ask. What paper pack did you get the green from in the clover leaf card that you did? I can’t seem to pin point it. Thanks!
Hi Stephanie: You are so sweet! Thanks. The paper used for my shamrock is from Flock Together Designer Series. Hugs, M
You always make it look so simple. Thanks for sharing all the details!
Love this card! thanks for sharing!
Hugs,
Elizabeth

I love this faux tile technique. Very cool and your color combo is so retro. Another hit! Enjoy your day!!
Beautiful card!
I would have never thought to combine those colors, but it looks fab! Retro chic — love it!
I’m never much for ‘orange’, but every time you use it I love it! Pretty card!
Gorgeous case – Mary!!! Love this look!!!
What a happy card! This card feels retro and modern at the same time. Now how can that be unless retro has become modern. They say everything old becomes new again….
Just beautiful! Great CASE of Beate!
This is an awesome idea, one that I hadn’t thought of. Thanks for sharing!
That is gorgeous, Mary. I know how hard it is to line all the little squares up. And you paper pierced around each piece. Plus the chocolate mat is nicely subtle. Very nice!!!
