9 Mother’s Day Cards from the Past!

Sunday, May 13, is Mother’s Day!  It’s a lovely way to celebrate and honor the important women and mothers in our lives.  Today’s post is dedicated to nine of the cards I have created for my mom (age 90 and going strong).  Some of the Stampin’ Up! products have been discontinued over the years. However, you can either improvise or just enjoy.  The links below each photo will take you to the original post, tips and supply list.

Apron of Love Bundle – Images © Stampin’ Up!

I’m so glad Apron of Love stamp set and coordinating Apron Builder Framelits Dies are carrying over to the new Annual Catalog on June 1.  It’s the perfect paper crafting pair (lovin’ that alliteration) for moms, dads, chefs, hosts and recipe inspired projects!  However, these two products won’t be sold as a 10% off the bundle in the new Annual Catalog.  Purchase the bundle now!  See all 10% off Stampin’ Up! bundles here.

Create this Father's Day Card using the Best Catch Bundle by Stampin' Up! Card created by Mary Fish, Stampin' Pretty

My family-inspired card is for my husband, Scott.  Honestly, he’s not a fisherman but with the last name of “Fish,” this card seemed appropriate, yes?  I love the “camouflage” feel of the animal print.  The Rich Razzleberry rectangle was embossed with the Ruffled embossing folder for a hint of water “wave!”  My favorite touch was adding plenty of Clear Wink of Stella to the fish and tops of the cattails!  The bling looks even more amazing in person!

Stampin' Up! Bundle Best Catch

STAMPIN’ PRETTY STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL:

Begin with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base of Whisper White Thick card stock.

Adhere a 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 piece of Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper to the card base with Snail Adhesive.

Subtly mimic water movement by zipping a 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock through a die cutting machine tucked inside the Ruffled embossing folder.  Adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Use a magnetic platform to hold in place a  2 3/8 x 3 3/4 Rectangle Stitched die nested and centered inside the 2 3/4 x 4 Rectangle Stitched die and cut a piece of Crumb Cake card stock.  Run back and forth several times (for the best cut) through a die cutting machine to create the frame.  Adhere as shown with small bits of Snail Adhesive.

Use the Stamparatus to position and stamp the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto a 4 x 2 3/8 piece of Mango Melody card stock.  Adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Create this Father's Day Card using the Best Catch Bundle by Stampin' Up! Card created by Mary Fish, Stampin' PrettyUse a die cutting machine and cattail die (Catch of the Day Dies) to crop Basic Black card stock (twice). Adhere with Snail Adhesive.

Use the Stamparatus to stamp the fish in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto Crumb Cake card stock.  Crop with a die cutting machine, magnetic platform, and coordinating die (Catch of the Day).  Lift the fins with a Take Your Pick tool and adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Bubbles?  Add two Mango Melody Enamel Dots (Best Route Enamel Shapes) as shown.

Use the Stamparatus to position and stamp the fisherman image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope.

Happy Tails Bundle by Stampin' Up! Friend card created by Mary Fish, Stampin' PrettySTAMPIN’ PRETTY STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL:

Start with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base of Whisper White Thick card stock.

Adhere a striped piece of Gray Granite 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper (ultimately cropped to 2 7/8″ tall) to a piece of Whisper White card stock.  Zip through the Big Shot with the Magnetic Platform and 3 3/8 x 4 3/4 Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies.  TIP:  I run the Big Shot and these dies forward and backward for a really clean cut.

Wrap Real Red 3/8″ Cotton Ribbon around the Gray Granite area, securing with a bow as shown.  Adhere to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Happy Tails Bundle by Stampin' Up! Friend card created by Mary Fish, Stampin' PrettyCrop a piece of Whisper White card stock with the Big Shot and 2 1/4 x 3 1/2 Rectangle Stitched Framelits Die. Use the Stamparatus to position and stamp the sentiment (Happy Tails) in Gray Granite Classic Ink.  Adhere as shown with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Use the Dog Builder Punch to crop a piece of polka dot 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper (dog) and Real Red card stock (heart).

Adhere the heart to the dog with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional and wrap White Solid Baker’s Twine around the dogs neck, securing with a bow.

Adhere the dog to the stitched rectangle below with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Happy Tails Bundle by Stampin' Up! Friend card created by Mary Fish, Stampin' PrettyTIP: I embossed a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Real Red card stock with the Basket Weave Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It makes a pretty and protective layer over the top of my card for mailing.  I still use non-machinable stamps (see stamp, here) but there’s less chance of damage with the added embossed layer.

Stamp the envelope using the Paw Print (Happy Tails) & Gray Granite Classic Ink, giving a hint to the recipient of what’s inside.

Freddie and Lucy

Making this card reminded me that I’m due to share an update on Freddie and Lucy with you. They are both doing amazingly well. Freddie has his moments of being a “terrible two.” However, we adore him and he is enjoying the cactus bloom on our daily walks. Lucy, who lives in the Phoenix area with my daughter, Caroline, continues to trust the world more and more each day (such a “wonder” dog). She and Freddie are best pals and get to hang out together when Caroline comes home (doggie sleepovers – yay)!. Learn more about their rescue journeys here.

I love hearing from you!  Please leave me your questions or comments about the project for today.
