  6. Many years ago I came across a recipe for Pumpkin Pecan Pie and it is a family tradition and favorite. A wonderful combo of the two that is a little less sweet than regular pecan with the pumpkin to temper the super sweet. Very yummy!!

  8. Nothing says Thanksgiving like pumpkin pie. Adding a spoonful of fresh whipped cream and it couldn’t be better. One of the first pies I baked for Thanksgiving dinner after Grandma died. I remembered that morning she would have been proud that it came out looking just right.

  13. My favorite pie is French Silk. Not exactly considered a Thanksgiving pie. I love pumpkin pies because my young grandchildren have spent a day making pumpkin pies with me since they could stand on a stool and reach the cabinet. Sadly, this year they no longer needed the stool. They grow up so fast but I hope it will be a memory they carry in their heart as I do mine.

  17. I am most thankful for pumpkin pie. It has been my favorite since childhood. When we moved into our home 20+ years ago, my next door neighbor brought us a pumpkin pie. We are friends to this day.

  41. I am most thankful for my grandma’s mincemeat pie. She made her own version and the recipe was never shared outside our family. When each of us turned 18, my sweet Grandma gave us the recipe and made us pinkie swear that we would never share it. The spices were perfect and her pie was known throughout her neighborhood. Her crust was amazing and light and fluffy! This was the most delectable pie I have ever eaten.

  57. Pumpkin defines Thanksgiving in our family. I’ve recently switched to making my own puree to make it extra special. Always make two even if there will be another flavor or if only three of us will be gathering. A must have for breakfast the next day. LOL!

  66. My absolute favorite is “Impossible Pie”, a coconut custard made in the blender. Everything goes in, including the flour for the crust and the coconut for the topping. Blend for the count of 10, pour in buttered pie pan, bake and you are done. EASY!

  85. Today, pumpkin is my favorite. My mom always made a pumpkin and a mincemeat pie using fruit based stuff where my grandma had a little meat and fat in there. My husband prefers pecan or chocolate pecan pie. Sweet potato pie is always a favorite too. But, I am grateful for having any kind as some do not have any.

  103. Pumpkin pie! My mom‘s birthday is September 18 and that is when we kick off our pumpkin pie. She makes them and we all join her eating them!! So we have several months of pumpkin pie. Never can get enough of it. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone

  104. Mary, I am most thankful for homemade, from scratch, pumpkin pie!
    It’s still the best. Making it with fresh pumpkins elevates it to a much better tasting pie. Once you make it this way, you will never go back
    to canned pumpkin.

  136. No one can make a pie like my mom and I LOVE her custard and apple pies, rhubarb too!! But when we lived in VA, we had neighbors that brought us over a Sweet Potato Pie on Thanksgiving Day. Their whole family gets together and makes dozens of pies, a recipe passed down for generations in their family. He was kind enough to share that “very special” recipe with our family and now, I can’t imagine a Thanksgiving without that heavenly taste being a part of our family tradition.

  160. Huckleberry, hard to get. Berries grow wild & are small. People do sell berries they have picked, very expensive. Best if you pick your own, then when eating your pie you remember the fun or challenge of picking them.

Lol, Apple pie (learned how to make last year for Thanksgiving and it came out awesome for a first try!) w/home made whipped cream first, pumpkin, then chocolate and “tuna” pudding pies, whipped cream a must no matter the pie! The “tuna” pie is actually Oreo cookie pudding, my husband makes the pudding pies and he told the young nieces and nephew that it was tuna fish because that’s what they thought it looked like!

  195. Pecan pie grandma made it and I have her recipe book that my aunt typed out as grandma made it stopping her to measure the ingredients as grandma used a tin cup to scoop everything so to grandma it was 2 scoops of sugar but in measuring cups it was 3 cups. A true treasure and treat

  272. Every year my sister makes a Macademia Nut Pie for Thanksgiving. I live for this because it’s such a decadent treat that I only get once a year. Knowing how much I love this pie, I’m always sent home with some! Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

  281. Pecan Pie. Being from the South it is a staple. My grandmother passed down the handwritten family recipe to my Mother who passed it down to my sisters and me. Preparing for Thanksgiving as a newlywed, imagine my surprise when I discovered the exact same recipe on the Karo dark syrup bottle.

  287. homemade pecan pie made by the great bakers from my hometown in Missouri that my dad would pay sometimes $150.00 for at the church fundraising auction the first week of November. Man, it was worth every penny!!!!

  288. Mincemeat Pie because my Mother-in- Law in heaven introduced it to me for the first time. She used to make it from scratch forThanksgiving. I loved it the first time I tried it.
