Pals Blog Hop – Be a Unicorn with Hippo Happiness

Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team’s theme is “Cute Critters” – showcasing their card/project with adorable animals, birds, or insects for any occasion. We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments! We love hearing from you. At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

My card features the adorable unicorn (a cute critter) from the Hippo Happiness Bundle, part of My Favorite Things from the Stampin’ Up! 2020-2021 Annual Catalog!

My Favorite Things - Hippo HappinessBUNDLE & SAVE 10%!  My favorite feature of the Hippo Happiness Bundle is the variety of label dies that come with the set.  Purchase the Hippo Happiness Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Hippo & Friends Dies together as a bundle and SAVE 10% over the individual retail price.

My Favorite Things - Playing with Patterns Suite

My card also uses two items from the Playing with Patterns Suite Collection, another one of My Favorite Things.  The Playing with Patterns 6×6 Designer Series Paper set the tone for the card and the Playing with Patterns Resin Dots finishes it off.

STAMPIN’ PRETTY STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL:

Create a gate-fold card base using Basic White Thick card stock and the Stampin’ Trimmer.  Cut card stock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score at 2 1/8 and 6 3/8.

Layer and adhere a 1 5/8 x 5 piece of Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper to a 1 7/8 x 5 1/4 piece of Night of Navy card stock with Stampin’ Seal.  Repeat for the opposite side.

Adhere to the card base as shown with Stampin’ Seal.

Create a belly band with a 9 1/2 x 1 3/4 piece of Basic White card stock.

Lay the card in the center and mark/score the belly band to wrap around the card.  Leave a wee bit of room to allow it to slide on and off.

Use Stampin’ Seal+ (extra strength) to adhere the belly band ends together, placing it where it will be covered by the sentiment die-cut.

Double wrap with Night of Navy and Whisper White Baker’s Twine, securing on the right with a bow.

Use a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine to crop a piece of Night of Navy card stock using the largest Hippo & Friends die and a piece of Basic White card stock with the slightly smaller Hippo & Friends die.

Adhere together with Stampin’ Seal and to the band with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Use a Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment in Versamark Ink onto a piece of Night of Navy card stock.  Cover with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, set with a Heat Tool.

Crop with the coordinating Hippo & Friends dies.

Use a Stamparatus to stamp the unicorn in Coastal Cabana Classic Ink onto Basic White card stock. The top layer & face is stamped in full strength, the bottom layer is first stamped-off onto scrap paper, then onto the top layer image.

Stamp the unicorn horn in Night of Navy Classic Ink Basic White card stock.

Crop with the coordinating Hippo & Friends dies.

Adhere the horn with a tiny amount of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Adhere both the unicorn and the sentiment to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

POP OF PERSONALITY!  Add two Purple Posy Playing with Patterns Resin Dots as shown.

PERFECT POLISH! Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere a 2 1/4 x 5 3/4 piece of Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper to the outside flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope. Trim to size with Paper Snips.
