A Very Luxe Beautiful Blizzard Holiday Card

Create a winter holiday Christmas card using Beautiful Blizzard & snowflake Blizzard dies - Mary Fish StampinUp Merry Merlot Idea

Today’s Beautiful Blizzard holiday card combines glimmer and shimmer for a very luxe look.  A key ingredient is the Bright Copper Shimmer Paint that I spritzed on the embossed layer.  I’ll share a WOW! video tomorrow with simple tips on how to create this beautiful background.

SAVE 10% when you purchase the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set and coordinating Blizzard Thinlits Die as a bundle (one of My Favorite Things).  This Stampin’ Up! video shows you even more possibilities with the Beautiful Blizzard bundle.

STAMPIN’ PRETTY STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL:

Create a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base with Stampin’ Up! Merry Merlot card stock and the Stampin’ Trimmer.

Cut a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Copper Foil.  TIP:  Crop or cut the interior portion of the copper foil (above) that will be buried using the Stampin’ Trimmer or dies.  The saved pieces can be used for cropping the copper snowflakes.

Layer and adhere with Snail Adhesive a 3 3/4 x 5 piece of Merry Merlot card stock to the copper foil piece above.

Cut a 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 piece of Merry Merlot card stock with the Stampin’ Trimmer.  Randomly stamp with the smaller texture stamp of Beautiful Blizzard stamp set using Merry Merlot ink.  This creates a deeper “tone on tone” contrast for the background.

Using the Big Shot Embossing Mats, Blizzard Thinlits Die and Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, emboss the 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 piece of Merry Merlot card stock from above.  Watch my WOW! video tutorial on how to use the embossing mats to turn dies into embossing tools here.

Mix a few drops of Bright Copper Shimmer Paint and water or alcohol in a Stampin’ Spritzer (to about 1/5 full).  Shake and spritz lightly on the embossed piece.  Allow to dry and adhere to the Merry Merlot layer with Snail Adhesive.  TIP:  Be sure to cover your work space area with scratch or Grid Paper to avoid having to clean up any trace shimmer paint.

Crop three snowflakes using Copper Foil, Blizzard Thinlits Die, the Precision Base Plate and the Big Shot.  TIP:  Be sure to run the die through the Big Shot twice (forward and backward).   The Precision Base Plate is crucial for good results with the Blizzard Thinlits Die.  Adhere copper snowflakes to the card base as shown with the adhesive of your choice.

Yum factor!  Wrap the layers with the Stampin’ Up! Merry Merlot & Copper 5/8″ Ribbon and tie in a bow.  Adhere with Snail Adhesive to the Merry Merlot card base create in the first step above.

Using the Stamparatus stamp positioning tool for best results, stamp “snowflake” sentiment from Beautiful Blizzard stamp set in Merry Merlot ink on a 3 x 1 piece of Crumb Cake card stock.  Find out why the Stamparatus is a must-have stamping tool here.

Punch top left corner of the sentiment tag with a 1/8 Handheld Circle Punch.  Wrap the Merry Merlot & Copper 5/8 Ribbon knot with Linen Thread.  Thread through the tag hole and tie in a bow to secure.  TIP:  Use a Stampin’ Dimensional on the bottom right corner to anchor the tag to the card base.
