I have to confess A Mother’s Flair stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog (p. 46) flew under the radar when I created my first wish list. I had a product perk through Stampin’ Up! and figured why not give A Mother’s Flair a try. Well, I’m smitten! The images are perfect for Mother’s Day and making the fabulous women in our lives feel special!
STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:
I first stamped the images in Basic Black Archival Ink using the Stamparatus, stamp positioning tool. Don’t despair if you didn’t reserve a Stamparatus last Nov. or Dec. It will be available June 1 as a regular item in the Stampin’ Up! 2018 Annual Catalog. What is a Stamparatus? Learn more here.
I cleaned off the black ink (the Absorber Cloth is perfect for this) and re-inked the images while in the same position with Versamark. The Stamparatus ensures that I’ll re-stamp with precision!
Oh, la la! I next heat embossed with the Stampin’ Up! Heat Tool and Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. It leaves a shiny, black patent leather finish. This simple 2-step process allows you to emboss with ANY Stampin’ Up! color. Watch my video below for a demonstration.
A sassy black and white polka dot print from Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper dresses up the envelope flap of the Whisper White Envelope (sized for 3 x 3 cards).
Layering Circle Framelits Dies were my BFF for cropping the image and scalloped layer below (Real Red). The Magnetic Platform keeps the image in place during it’s journey through the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.
I used the Light Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Markers to color the flower and leaves. A single pearl adds elegance and interest.

A lovely use of this set and the Stamparatus! I’m so happy I was on the L2L Team and have one!
I hear you, Ellen. Such a privilege to have one early. It’s essentially my one and only “clear block” for stamping!
Hi Mary:
You are an enabler – I love every card you make and now I need this under the radar stamp set “A Mother’s Flair” to make a card for my Daughter for Mother’s day. Who else would love this card that has “Lemon lime twist ankle Boots and wears them in Las Vegas”. I would be one your best customers if I lived in the US. My Stamparatus is on order right now and I made 6 of your Ghirardelli boxes last night. Have a good day.
Thanks, Maureen. Sounds like you have the perfect recipient for these flirty images. I’m thrilled that you can enjoy my blog, even if not in the U.S.!
Beautiful card, Mary. I loved wearing high heels like that back in the day!! The embossing really makes it stand out along with the sentiment. It makes a very elegant card. Have a great weekend.
I try and wear them once in awhile now, HJ, and wonder how I used to wear them more often. Ouch – but they sure look pretty!
This set was not on my radar, either! But it is now! Mary, I just love how you present such clean and simple cards that just shouts “elegant.” I seldom use DSP, but you have shown me how to use it on the envelope and not clutter the card with it. Thank you for sharing your creativity and inspiring me.
Thanks for the visit, Arlene! I love the almost exotic look of that polka dot . . . perfect with the sexy high heel!
This stamp set HAS NOT been on my radar at all – but I really love what you’ve done with it. You put a modern, fresh spin on the set! Love the patent leather shoe!
Honestly, I can’t wait to make something with the hat! Thanks, BK!
Hello Mary,
Your video today is just jam packed with a wealth of information on tips and techniques to enhance any paper crafters repertoire from the beginner to the seasoned. Thank you for sharing your passion with us.
Just love this video!!
Thanks, Marianne. You have a way with words that makes me smile!
Great!!!!! Tip on adding the versamark!! And embossing using the stamping tool! You are right I’d pass this one by now having 2nd thoughts!!
I love being your enabler, Jenny!
Looooove this stamp set Mary, the images are all so stylish and beautiful, what perfect little note cards they make.
And I looooove my absorber too, I use it all the time, it’s right there to my right on my craft desk in a tupperware to keep it moist while I’m working. I rinse it every single day after I finish stamping but I do wash it every week with a bit of shampoo and rinse it really well. I did cut it into 8 parts also and this first one is still looking great.
Thank you for sharing this gorgeous little 3×3 note cards.
XO
Maria.
I’m still on my first 1/8″, Maria. I’ll have to consider washing with shampoo when it needs a “bath!”
I’m loving your black patent leather finished shoe……ADORABLE my friend!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, Kadie!
Very pretty. Intrigued by the absorber cloth. Looked it up on amazon. Do you use it a lot for stamp cleaning? And about how often do you launder?
Thanks, Toni. You just use water and squeeze out the excess to clean stamps or clean the cloth. I cut mine into 8ths and am still on the first one. Eventually, I’ll toss and use another piece!
